Re: Picture(s) of the day....
One of my apple trees yesterday afternoon
This one is well advanced - a container-grown one planted last autumn. My other two are a bit behind as they were bare-rooted and delivered only about six weeks ago. I planted them immediately and held out little hope as they looked totally dead... Happily, they're alive and well and progress can be seen every day...
I've been keeping them well hydrated in this very dry weather...

I was just wondering a few days ago if Kentmere photo paper was still available and see that it is and they make film now too.
Haven't used it since the seventies.

Yes indeed Steve, It's Ilford's budget film. What they describe as a 'Student' film. Around a fiver for 24 exposures... Available in 100 and 400ASA in both 35mm and 120.myglaren wrote: 08 Apr 2025, 16:34 I was just wondering a few days ago if Kentmere photo paper was still available and see that it is and they make film now too.

After having shot a roll of Ilford HP5+ I actually prefer it...
I don't know if they do papers. I've not progressed to that just yet. I need to find an enlarger first
The Lake District village the film is named after looks very pretty.

HP5 was 400asa so very grainy, was designed for low light. I used to use it and bring out the grain with a fine acutance developer.
You could get some great effects, going back some time now, buy film in bulk roles and load your own cassettes!

Indeed, a good saving and the ability to cram another dozen frames in.momag46 wrote: 10 Apr 2025, 15:28 HP5 was 400asa so very grainy, was designed for low light. I used to use it and bring out the grain with a fine acutance developer.

Current temperature in the garden. It was 0.02 Celciuses overnight.

I like a bit of grain in my photos Mauricemomag46 wrote: 10 Apr 2025, 15:28 HP5 was 400asa so very grainy, was designed for low light. I used to use it and bring out the grain with a fine acutance developer.
I have a few rolls on Kentmere 100 (100ASA) on order so it'll be interesting to compare the two. I also plan to push one roll at 200ASA and see how that looks...
Meanwhile, one of my apple trees this afternoon taken on my DSLR
I'm following progress of the soft and hard fruit in my garden on a daily basis and photographing progress. I'm seeing growth every day now...
I'm very tempted. Bulk loaders and bulk film stock is readily available

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I've never done any more than point and shoot.
I do though get some pretty good results and print them up on the HP printer or scan some of the old black and white stuff I took with a Kodak 127 in Egypt, tiny prints from that.

It's amazing just what good results those older point and shoot cameras could give Eric
Would love to see some of them ;

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I rather think that my first camera was a Halina 127 point and shoot.
The problem with the Olympus is resolved. It appears to have been the USB connection with the laptop. Tried it in the other laptop and it works fine.
Photo of flytipped crap I wanted to send to the council to have it removed as it is partly over a bit of land I have been looking after for a disabled neighbour. Couldn't send it but used the phone instead.
