Asked him that....he has a like for, but no interest in owning a classic yet...

Invited him to the nationals along with some of the other C2 owners however......he will be assimilated

Next time I have one go, I am going to try repairing the tank by sawing it open around the seam (with the thinnest saw blade I can find), cut a gasket out of a suitable rubber, then reassemble, either with screws and washers or try using Rapesco Supaclips, which should be strong enough if you use enough of them.

I believe the phrase is "defective by design"...

According to receipts mine had already had the expansion vessel changed 3 times in 65k miles and when I bought it it needed to be done again so now 4 times...

I will be ordering two of them on Monday :)
I have one on the donor car but I really cannot be arsed digging it out as this was "new" looking and sourced from the Green Goblin, it has blown in a year.

Is there any chance the pressure cap on these seizes with age causing over pressurisation ? Or is the join on the tank really just that pathetic ?

On both the V6's I've had I replaced the pressure cap with a new one as a precaution at the same time that I replaced the expansion vessel - and touch wood no repeat failure yet, although both cars have only done 2years/10k since the replacement so maybe not long enough to know...

Not really sure but I always replace them both as a pair. Years ago my old 306 HDi started loosing coolant and it was the spring in the cap that had given up so when I did the expansion tank on the Activa, and our old V6 I changed both parts.

Preferably with a 105 calibre barrel, so as to dissuade Citroen from making them NFP!
