I'd of (thought) the first place to start with the bonnet struts would be a 406 as (apart from the very first ones) they all had them. It may provide clues as to suitable location points etc

maybe.,....but as the Range Rover ones were 200 meters away and I like a challenge :)

All fitted up on one side last night, lower bracket (from the RR bonnet) fitted to the wing with one hole needing drilling and the other into an existing wing bolt, the lower RR ball joint (stud) welded to a DIY support bracket and welded to the bonnet frame and the (self locking) strut fitted. This is hidden by the sound /heat proof cover with only the ball showing via a small hole.

It gives a good 60/70 reduction in effort, very pleased with the result so far. The bonnet is not twisting when it rises. The second strut should make it lift nice and slow automaticity

I will add the other strut tomorrow.....maybe even leave it off..................I will make up my mind if I want to in the morning.

C5x7 hit me with a guilt trip out of jealousy, so I washed and polished it.

That's about the only x7 I would have, that colour and shape, and an hdi exclusive.

Great stuff. :D

I am a bit surprised that the car did not have them fitted as standard really anyway. Mind you the 406 bonnet is *very* heavy. I don't know if the Xantia one would be much lighter come to think of it.

Yep, a V6 hdi auto would be a keep forever car for me. It will take a bit of saving up for though [emoji37]
