Well done!
For the price that one at Anglia Car Auctions is likely to go for, can't see any economic sense in trying to revive those body shells. There is another one under the covers. I'll shove the ACA one up on the open top thread shortly.

A pair of unpromising French rusty wrecks for sale at Mathewsons. I have seen a worse revived by Renault Reborn in Louth, a friend of mine had the remnants of a Renault 760 from 1948 (Early 4CV)

and 5 points for anyone who already knows what the CV initials stand for.

I believe it's something to do with a measure of the power developed by a steam engine of a given size... V being the French word for steam - vapeaur (vapour). Not sure what the C is - constant perhaps... And then again, it's to do with horse power... CV could be a French abbreviation for horsepower...

I may be a way out... Just a couple of uneducated guesses!

And it was the value used by the French authorities to determine how much road tax was due...

Go on have a peep at the spoiler, and I would award Mick 2 points, with Jim 3 points just nudging ahead with his correct speculation about what the V stands for :-D

I never saw the spoiler until you pointed it out Neil, hence the 'tone' of my post!

Quite an economical thing in its day the Renault 760!

Graces Guide has much of interest in it, didn't think it did obscure car adverts!

I always understood that CV stood for cheval(s) - ie. horsepower. I did think though that Citroen were being unduly modest, as even the 2CV had (slightly) more than 2 horsepower!

Cheval Vapeur is what I understood it to be an abbreviation of.

How's your French! I used the plural in my spoiler a few posts back!

https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheval-vapeur

Now the thread has been found how about some original pics, of the spotting of the Rusty ( or maybe not so rusty wreck) like this pair of Volvo's (not living up to the derivation of the name Volvo), merely returning to nature or at least being overgrown by nature. :-D More participants needed!

Around here those barns would by now have been restored to high class houses by migrants from London and the planners would be climbing all over the place with the yard full of scrap with 'clean up' orders.

I rarely photograph a nice barn conversion, give me the dilapidated one for photogenicity (if thats a word!) :-D

Given time it will follow the same way Gibbo when "The Duke" gets round to it, because no doubt he probably owns it.

Its got a very nice Chimney too!
