To celebrate, I've treated myself to a holiday beside the seaside next week so expect pictures
Speaking of pictures, I've been experimentally 'pushing' film. This is a technique where you shoot the film at a faster speed than it is rated for and develop it for a longer time in a brew that's known to be good for this sort of thing.
It allows a faster shutter speed and smaller aperture to be used than would otherwise be possible if the film is shot at its its rated speed. Very valuable when shooting in low light as is typical of a British wet winter's day or when indoors and you don't want to use flash.
I got great results shooting Ilford HP5 at twice its rated speed (800ASA) so tried it at 1600ASA and developing it for the advised time in Ilfotec HC.
The photo below was shot indoors during a discussion with Autumn on the merits of teacakes and whether or not they should be toasted. We did agree that only butter can be spread on a teacake
We disagree on the toast or not to toast debate. I'm very much for them to be toasted
So, it does conclusively prove you can take great liberties with HP5 and get away with it
Next time I'll try it at 3200ASA
