Potd just survived by the skin of its teeth on Sunday with a single contribution from CitroJim so your not especially noteworthy weed rake from China is most welcome Steve. :-D

Apart from my 73's and dragonflies, this was the only other snap I took. There were plenty of people around making the most of it on what was a very showery afternoon.

Thanks Jim, saw the scene took the camera out and the sun went behind a cloud and the butterfly folded up its wings and presented its duller but still amazing underwings. Waited for some minutes before the wings were unfurled again and clicked the shutter :-D

Anyone ever come across a violet coral fungus (Clavaria zollingeri) :?: wiki page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clavaria_ ... 0languages

Quite a rarity but one was spotted in Northumberland recently.

Didn't spot one myself on todays walk, but was attuned to such things and was pleased to come across another coral-like fungus in bright yellow. This could well be a Yellow Stagshorn though, according to champignouf.com/ an on-line mushroom-identifier from a picture, but which is at pains to stress not to rely on it to come up with the right answers!

There was a planned power cut at work today where the power company completely failed to turn up and do anything - so power cut off for absolutely no reason

It didn't affect me too much though as I rolled out my 40 year old genny to enable me to boil up the kettle for a cup of tea. The only drawback was that it was boiled with 40 year old electrons so tasted a little off.

You do realise bobins that if your genny had 40 year old electrons you may have made a major breakthrough in battery technology !!! :-D

The woodland walk also supplied a carbon copy of yesterdays Vanessa Atalantis sun-ing itself on a tree-trunk.

I blame McDonalds. (mostly).
Littering breaks my heart and disgusts me

Costa are the biggest culprits around here with MaccyD a very close second...
My way of thinking is it is not usually the 'supplier' that is the problem, but the customers (and their attitude). I have seen people just dump their Maccy D rubbish out of the windows of their vehicles, with a rubbish bin (that is NOT full) less than ten paces away!
