That's Strawberry's insurance renewed for another year :) It's been an expensive month with two lots of car tax and one lot of insurance. Polly's insurance is due next month...

I'll be busy now for a while. I need to get both Polly and Strawberry fully serviced and get the house and garden fully in order ready for the post-op downtime.

My running ban continues due to complications following the biopsy two weeks ago. I looks as if the biopsy stirred the underlying cancer into some liveliness and things are not looking good down there  The ban is in force until further notice

It means I've had to postpone yet another multisport event I was due to race this weekend :( And like a couple of weeks ago I've swapped over to marshalling at it. On the run course this time.

Similarly, last evening I had to withdraw from the Monday TT race and swapped over to doing photography instead...

Bloody cancer

Despite that, I'm in very good spirits and well ready to grab it by the balls and give it a good kicking :D

All the best for a speedy recovery Jim, if you could only run away from it, it would be gone in no time!

Thanks Richard :-D If only  Mind you, all the love I've been shown is doing the trick already 8-)

The consultant I saw yesterday was already aware I'm a serious runner - must be on my clinical notes - and she stressed there will be physio available especially to get me running again as soon as :-D I suppose it helps that Stoke Mandeville is one of the premier hospitals for athletes and have specialist sports physios on-site...

Glad it sounds like they've caught things early enough, Jim. Hope everything goes smoothly. If you need any help with anything you know where I am.

Once they've welded the patch panel back over the hole they've created in you, Jim, and put a skim of filler over it, I'm sure you'll soon be back running around in circles :-D
...... Although you'd probably prefer a carbon fibre patch panel on full display to go with your bike

  That's top quality Bobins, love it! I'll definitely go for the carbon fibre - a metal patch might go rusty... And carbon will be lighter

I gave Strawberry a good check-over today given there was nefarious plans afoot last night... All was good although I did need to top-up the coolant. It took perhaps a what a shot glass would hold... Otherwise she's OK, as is her much younger sister who also got a good looking-at, especially as she's been much busier than usual lately..

That was after looking through this veritable library of information I brought home from the hospital. The Macmillan item at the top looks like a pamphlet but it's more of a book and about 3/8" thick!

I have my first appointment at Stoke Mandeville already and happily it does not clash with any already planned activities :)

As a sort of birthday present I treated myself to a fairly high-end film camera and one of the last SLR film cameras made by Canon. It did not cost me much as it was bought on a 'spares or repairs' basis. It actually works with fresh batteries. I bought another that is much more 'spares' as it has a broken battery cover and film door latch. Otherwise it works perfectly when both doors are held closed with tape. With a bit of careful re-manufacturing of the broken bits, that one will be good again too. It is, in fact, an ideal candidate for 3D-printing the parts needed.

I also treated myself to a fast'ish 50mm prime lens with stepper motor auto-focus. I need that when photographing my favourite subject as she's always on the move and will not pose for me. Trying to get a good focused picture of her on my old school Pentax cameras is next to impossible!

I stick with Canon as all my lenses will fit all my Canon cameras, including my digital one.

If you find a 3D model for those bits I could certainly have a shot at printing up replacements for you.

That would be great Zel, thank you :) I've not looked yet as to be honest, I don't know what to look for... I do have the broken bits. Is it possible to use those to create the necessary files?

Both bits are relatively simple.

All very new territory to me and a new learning curve :)

This, and other small indoor projects are now on hold in readiness for keeping me amused when my mobility might become compromised for a while...

Post a pic of the bits and some measurements - we've got Fusion 360 and a printer, but I'm not very good with it! If they're not too complex I might be able to create them.

Thanks Richard, that'll be great!

This is the most critical bit to get re-made... You can see the little film door latch is well broken...

I'll pop it out again and do a few measurements and a little drawing...
