Ok, so just want to clarify that it was activated ok, and that you didn't copy over and use the old licence key from the previous installation, as this would of been unique to the hardware prior to he new HDD. Again. Just want to ensure it was a complete new install and that you didn't copy any files or folders over from the old hard disk in relation to Diagbox. Have you changed the version of Windows you had before too?
If all is well there, without connecting to the car, it with the laptop plugged into the mains, plug the VCI into each USB port and wait until it is recognised and the drivers are installed. You should do this on each USB port.

Next you should make sure that the car hasn't gone into economy mode, so you could connect up the VCI launch Diagbox and start the car. Try doing a Global test with the engine running this time ignoring when it tells you to turn ignition off then on. See if it will pick up the ECUs now.

Thanks Marc,

Will look at tomorrow and follow your instructions.

As you say the authentication code is unique to each install hence the reason I had to do a completely new install.

Otherwise it's the same os windows xp pro but laptop has 100gb HDD and 2gb ram.

What effect does antivirus software have on the process.

Likewise I'm tempted to run an ethernet cable from router to laptop as the wifi signal was playing up. It was only 10 feet away.

Antivirus software can interfere with both the installation and the operation of the software as well as the firewall. When you installed it I've assumed you allowed all the firewall requests too.

It's better not to have anything else running if possible and just keep the laptop for Lexia use, especially as Diagbox is quite resource intensive. If you are having connection issues again tomorrow, go to the control panel and disable the Windows Firewall and see if that helps, then the same for your anti virus software as that could be interfering with the communication.

Let us know how you get on Kenny.

Marc,

Had a play and still had some problems, but gave easy diagnostics a phone.

It was suggested to me to switch of wifi as the diagbox was trying to connect to the citroen/peugoet servers.

Second attempt with antivirus and wifi off and I managed to run global test and a list of ecu's appeared but failed to view the faults which were there. This was my fault. After that I could not access anything.

But it still would not automatically identify the vehicle even although it read the VIN. Also a screen did not appear with a choice of diagbox and pps.

I've left it for the moment but making progress.

Never let it update via wifi Kenny - as that will likely cause a deactivation for sure. If you suspect it has deactivated and is therefore playing up, try copying back your new licence key (APPDIAG.SYS) into the C:\AWROOT\BIN\FI\ folder. Sometimes hunting about in Diagbox and simply selecting an option (even without proceeding) can cause a deactivation if any of those actions suddenly displays a login screen. I've had this happen several times and copying the licence file back resolves this. It won't necessarily stop the program from running, but can cause a loss of functionality.

Well had the Diagbox going on the C5 and it was working fine.

Loaded all the ecu's and faults. Will now have to learn who to use it correctly.

Thanks Marc, still find it strange as I assume that our 2010 DS3 was CANBUS? The odd thing for me was that V7.57 would not even "see" the newer VCI, just the old one! I was looking to get rid, but have to keep the two. I only mention this out of general interest regarding what you say about the combination of firmware and hardware  .
Thanks again, Regards, Harry

Hi Harry

The 7.57 and 7.58 Diagbox versions need firmware V4.3.2, with 7.62 to 7.76 needing V4.3.3.

If you post up your DS3 VIN, I'll see what architecture it is.

No worry. The DS3 has been replaced by the C4, It's VIN has gone with the car as I deleted it from my Lexia "carrying box top aide memoir", but it was a July 2010 reg as I recall!
Take care....

I have a lexia 3 i bought it for installing my cruise control 5 years back , and i have never used it since as nothing has gone wrong with the car . I ran it on an old Dell latitude on XP operating system , but the USB socket is faulty and i would like to change the laptop. My question is what windows operating system is the best to get that will suit the Lexia3.

Windows 7 is fine. Although it is coming towards end of service, it is and will continue to be supported and updated for a while yet.

XP is well outdated now, with no support and no updates and won't really utilise the hardware in newer laptops.

Hello again. After playing with lexia for a few times, I've found an option "boot opening", on actuators testing and when I click it, the boot opens. I wonder if there's a button that does that in the car or if I can set one to do it. Sorry if this is off topic
Cheers
