Well it certainly took some mulling but I have reached a rather surprising conclusion. Both the MK1 RS2000 and Lambretta SX150 have lures for me as I have owned both in the past, but for that same reason I won't pick either. There are no cars that really jump out at me although I wouldn't say no to a few, however the one vehicle that does appeal because it just might give me the chance to become a free spirit would be:

If I can fit in it (assuming I can work out how to actually get IN it) I would have the TVR Chimera. I would have to learn how to drive it (as TVRs can be a bit 'lively), but I do have the advantage of knowing somebody who could properly look after it every 500 miles or so after she throws ANOTHER hissy fit!
