Yeh...I was not looking forward to the buying from a Frenchman bit ...the RHD conversion would of been easier based on my two efforts so far.
I cannot moan to much, I could of found the car (24Miles away FFS !) the day after getting back with a French one....

I still find it funny that after a year looking and planning this, and an almost booked ferry (Monday)...there is possibly one that bloody close...LOL.

New home away from the city for two sad old Citroen's. Welcome to the slaughter house

The rust is so localised......I an quite tempted, my mate up the road will be down to see it later and offer his view regarding cutting it out and welding it all up ........we shall see but I think this will stay as a Spares and Learn as you Strip car. Shame because the rest is not to bad it seems.

The Local Activa I saw yesterday was very flaky under, been stood on grass for 9 months....shame....and the owner thinks it is a super car and was thinking he should get about 3k....I laughed and left. Shame as it was so close.

I have read your ram notes, good stuff.....it will be one of the first things I do after having a good study to draw up some type of plan of works.....last thing I need is three cars without wheels and engines all at the same time.

And from the Inside...carpets were sodden so that is what knives are for :)

The rot seems very localised to the side panel....strange

It would have to be super-concours to attract that kind of price-tag...

I've seen other cars that have stood on grass and they've been lovely...

Don't get me wrong...its a very solid car....very and I would of given him good money on the spot.NP..
. BUT all the undercoat is flaking ....needs a BIG clean up NOW.....with lots of stuff taken off.
I'm not doing that for those $$$ but would of put in the effort for what I offered.....shame really but his opinion is what it is and it will slowly go the way of many such cars. (Same as his CX 2.4 PRESTIGE FASTBACK)

The Avtiva awaits inspection

So I stated to strip the front of the V6 to get ready to remove its engine........
IF you have mud Flaps fitted like this....

Then THIS is what you could find :)

And Under that.....

No rot....amazing ...even deep inside

My Activa doesn't have front guards, but inside the wings was full of mud exactly like that, just the same.
No rot at all though

 I am amazed at the rot on that transmission tunnel!

I will be working out a better edge that seals the wing to the wheel arch liner.....I cannot think of a worse design than this for a liner and mud flap....defeats the object 100% good job :)

Looking close, to me it seems to of rotted on the outside first and let water in rather than wet carpets, the tin work is thin double skin so will go quick if penetrated.

More work today on stripping the V6, my welder mate is here tomorrow to have a sniff at the Activa. (floating past the window ...)

The V6 strip-down starts in earnest, bumper and forward panel off.

I've got two vices.. One is very old indeed and is a blacksmiths one.. It's huge and fantastically useful..

My other is a normal engineer's vice but not a very big one.. Between them thy are vice heaven...

I have a few other specialist vices for the lathe and pillar drill...

Looking at your pictures I always think what a stupid position that was for the autobox ECU in the V6 Xantia...

Your disassembly is coming along very well...

Be interested to hear what the welder says about the Activa...
