A good day today After a trip to a very quiet and deserted Tesco I went for a ride with my girlfriend (on our bikes I might add just in case anyone had other ideas )

It was a bit bloody cold and windy although very invigorating The coffee and cake at the café stop was good too

And I spent some very high quality time with my younger daughter... She loves my Picasso to bits and thoroughly enjoyed swanning around in it over Christmas. She even filled it up with diesel as a way of saying a little thank you - what a girl

And in between all of that I drafted the February edition of my Citroenian column... Tomorrow I'll proof-read it and then send it off to the editor...

After a chilly but otherwise very lovely and invigorating 8 mile run early this morning well before dawn I baked a batch of scones, did a load of New Year admin and then got cracking on the main job of the day:

Checking Strawberry over for her MoT next week...

All is good. As we used to say at work, NFF - No Fault Found

I gave her a good bath as she was covered in winter muck from her use over the festive season and her trip to Somerset. She got a good pressure-wash underneath...

She's now resting under the carport until her appointment with the man with the clipboard...

Then I turned to do a bit more on Bluebell. I find she's demanding I have a biggish job to do. Her starter motor has gone a bit intermittent and more often than not she just gives a loud click when I turn the key. It's not the battery or battery connections - already I know that much.

So, one of the most horrible AX jobs will soon be done. Horrible because the starter motor is not that accessible, being low down at the back of the engine.

I have a brand-new starter in stock. One I originally bought for my erstwhile Saxo and never fitted. If I cannot successfully overhaul Bluebell's I'll fit it...

On the positive side, I 'proved' the rear screen wash pump wiring is good right to the pump despite the wires themselves looking a bit black and tarnished... My repaired pump runs fine

It's unlikely I'll get any further work done on Bluebell until next week now. I have a packed weekend of parkruns and a busy non-car day tomorrow...

When I got back from a trip out this morning I found this on the back of my Picasso:

Strawberry was parked nearby and was not similarly leafleted... I was quite offended they didn't consider an AX worthy

Yes, worth keeping on file especially as my friend's Mazda 6 has just died spectacularly with a duff injector (squirting neat diesel into one cylinder) which has gone on to wreck the DPF...

He's looking to now get shot of it... I'll let him know the details...

I thought through that a bit fiurther and it occurred to me you could have a retractible sun blind, like ours, across the front of both houses and just put it out when frost is on the menu!!
