As far as the vibration is concerned, has the car been standing still for a while?
If it has it might be due to the tyres developing a flat spot due to standing.
My Xantia suffers this as I only drive it about once a fortnight, but the vibration soon wears off after a few miles as the tyres regain their shape.
Good luck on the job hunting.
Driving test!

Have to agree both my Xants have had oval tyres, had tyres rebalanced many times both had the same vibe 65-70 very irritating, my local indie tyre (highly respected in the trade) place took the time to set up a guage and the back tyres were very badly out of true even though they had a fair bit of tread left, apparently Xant's are very succeptable to going wobbly doesn't know why though.
