bugger, still seems to be leaking. Lost about 0.5 litres overnight and the carpet is damp again. Anyone fancy earning themselves a few quid fitting a new heater matrix for me? I'll supply the part and bring the car round and you do the labour! I'll pay real money cash in hand but not garage fees.

Don't panic yet - it took about a week / 300 miles for mine to dry up, and even longer for the carpet to dry out - mine was dripping off a plastic lug sticking out from the bottom of the dash, check here for continuing or otherwise wetness (mind you, mine was a long way off the 1/2 litre of coolant stage). Are you sure it's not also leaking from somewhere else - like the elbow on the back of the block?

Well I'd pay about up to £75 which is about an average wage for a days work surely? However, I know it's a ball ache of a job so I don't know if anyone will want to do it.. I don't think it's leaking from anywhere else- It wasn't when it went in for timing belt and water pump. They had a good look and said there was a slight leak from the heater matrix and it's got worse since then.

Matt? Does the £75 include having to buy the matrix or will you supply one? I cant do it but will make a few phone calls to people who may, once i know what you are prepared to pay... I assume your offer is £75 for their days labour?..

that's correct. I'll buy the correct part from GSF and the £75 cash in hand would be for labour. I think I'm going to give the stop leak a couple more days just in case but if it's still leaking after the weekend I'll defo want someone to do the work and replace it for me.

The story continues, finally it SEEMS to have stopped losing the coolant as fast and the heater still works. The level has stayed the same since Thursday evening now or it appears to be the same when I check. Thank god- Hope this will buy me some useage til I save up to have the job done properly or change cars..
