volcane came out in late H reg and J as a 1.9i 130bhp no-cat same as the 205 gti. Then it moved to the 2.0 iron engine which was heavier and only 123bhp with a cat. These are petrols btw. It came with the 1.9 td 90 (92?) bhp turbo diesel as well
yep 3 and 5 door and ive seem them in all colour, red, white, silver, burgandy, green etc. Not sure on trim compared to the advantage but it had leather as option.
Bits that differ to the 16v are 247mm discs over 266mm, not as low or as stiff, doesnt have the same wheel arch extensions, side skirts and cut away rear arches but the bumpers are the same. 14" wheels instead of 15"
the 16v is group 15, think the volcane is 13 for the petrol, diesel is less 9? but not sure. With 4 years ncb I pay £330 on my 16v and im 27, this is 3rd f+f

Cheers for the reply. I really like my old Avantage TD by after the Xsara VTR in Hellios gold that I had, I relly fancy a 3 door ZX Volcane, but all I have seen so far are white 5 doors. Only other question having had the 1.9 TD how does it rate against the petrol variant? from what I seen they seem about the same except for the diesel lower insurance which is all important these days especially with points on the old licence curtesy of my local super old bill. (don't you just love em!!) [:D]

Darren and Gareth, what sort of mileages have yours done? Is the engine generally reliable? (I've read of the problems with the ACAV. Isn't everything else pretty conventional?)

Mines just turned 96k, I had a coolant hose go on me last week. Chitron dealer wanted £43, no one else had it so...
Luckily I was being encouraged to go quicker by some japanese car, so I was looking in my rear view alot. I spotted the clouds of smoke and stopped straight away before I'd cooked the head...phew!!
My local scrappy has got two 16v in..a black one and a BRG one, both the engines are still in, although all the ACAV vacuums where missing. Some un-curbed 16v alloys and some v.good panels, they both have cloth trim, and one has A/C. One of the engines was a 68k!
They are a quick motor, treat them right...etc. I'm not going to preach, just treat it like a lady, slap it around a bit but buy it chocolates and take it to the cinema once in a while.[:D]

lol 2 in a scrap yard? ive never even seen one and I used to frequent yards most weekends. I went and looked at one at the weekend to maybe replace mine with due to its front end not being quite right and swap all my good bits over to. However its been sitting 6 months and needs some work and I just cant be bothered as ive got 3 citroens that need work already!
You may be able to flog the alloys, scrap yard probably only ask for 10 a wheel, maybe 15 and get the badges if you can, 14.50 new for a 16v one!, sell to saxo owners etc on ebay. where do you live?

3) can I get a 3 door? And what kind of trim do you get. currently ZX Avantage TD." Unquote:-
The differences in trim on the swop I made (Volcane to Avantage) were as follows..
Volcane trim has:- sportier seats, that are height adjustable, have lumbar support, and pockets in the seat backs. They also support better and prevent side movement when cornering hard.
Back seat has a central arm rest.
Door panels at rear have pockets and covers for speakers. The trim tops appear to be real leather, rather than plastic lookalike.
The velour material is of superior quality, and in more atractive colours. (tho I have seen some that look like grannies curtains! [:I]) ..
Steering wheel is in black leather and is umm more substantial? And three spoke instead of two if my memory is working. [:o)] [^]

To "Goose", qouting your earlier post
" im desperate for a set of ht coils as thyer £50+vat from citroen and no one else does em so thats £250 (ish) for a set of leads!!!"
The ZX 16v does not have HT leads. It has a coil for each plug. When I replied previously giving a GSF part number, that part number related to a ZX 16v coil, as in there are 4 of them for each plug. There are no leads. The part number I gave was therefore correct.
