Hydraulic suspension pipe bursted C5 mk3 2010

Post by Greg2791 »

Hi,
Just couple of hours ago, I found a leak of oil from rear driver side(UK model). When I looked there it turns out to be a worn pipe that nearly touching the diesel tank. My question is:
what is the part number?
Is is still available? ,
if not, does anybody make a substitute?
or if can be repaired somehow?
Thanks for help.
VIN: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Hi. I can't see from your pictures as they are too near, but below are the rear suspension Supply and return pipes:

This is the Rear Supply Piping

If you can let me know which pipe(s) item numbers you think it is, I can provide you with the part number, but all these in the diagrams are showing as currently available.

I think it is 1 or 2 (rear supply) , it is metal, there are only 2 pipes touching the tank, and the burst-ed one is closer to the wheel. The first picture is taken from wheel side close to passenger door.
Another question, is there still oil in the power steering pump circuit? I can easily turn the wheel as normal. I do not want to destroy the pump when driving to the garage.
I disconnected the power cable from the fuse box to the suspension pump - so this one is safe.

Had the same problem, have a look at this viewtopic.php?p=658388#p658388
but I would do now is cut the section out and eflare each end using standard flaring tool and fit new joints and tubing.
Instead of renewing the complete pipe., did this with rear supply pipe at the pump

Hope this helps

I replaced this pipe on mine with one from a guy in Russia with special end adapters. It's a copper pipe. I imagine however that this guy might not be available to send the kits now for obvious reasons.

Mine had been formerly repaired with a join like yours Kenny but I wasn't keen on it being a compression fitting. Whatever course of action, this isn't easy because the diesel tank needs lowered. I'm amazed Marc that the pipe is still listed as available.

My mechanic fixed it by cutting the pipe on other side of the diesel tank, then using break repair kit, like @KennyW mentioned above. Thanks for advice. I will update this topic if something goes wrong. It looks like it is common problem of this pipe as it burst nearly in the same place, just behind fuel tank.
