C5 X7 3.0 HDi - p2175 fault code

Post by silientshy »

Hi there,

I've noticed on my C5 X7 with DT20C - 3.0 V6 HDi FAP that sometimes I get a engine check light. After connecting to diagbox there is always a fault code in the injection/ignition calculator (I believe that it is the correct name as I have my diagbox in another language). There is always only p2175 fault code (no other fault codes in this calculator) and from the parameters of this fault I see that it is too closed.
The fault didn't always return, as it went away for a few days and then it reappeared.
As to engine behavior, when a fault code emerges, the engine starts to run marginally worse, but there is no problem with accelerating or anything else.

Shall I replace the air mixer with p/n 0345.G1?

It's either that or the electrical harness / pins at the connector.
Fault Code: P2175
Description of Fault: Air mixer /Butterfly: Position incorrect in relation to the requirement (Closed too far). The measured air flow is less than the setting for a defined time:
Possibility 1: Difference of 7 % for 30 seconds
Possibility 2: Difference of 10 % for 25 seconds
Possibility 3: Difference of 30 % for 15 seconds
Possibility 4: Difference of 50 % for 10 seconds
Possibility 5: Difference of 60 % for 8 seconds
Possibility 6: Difference of 70 % for 7 seconds
Conditions for Fault to clear:
  • Disappearance of the fault code, 10 seconds after the return to normal operation
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Deactivation of the function EGR
  • Deactivation of the "easy-move" (electric parking brake) functionality
  • Switching on of the warning lamp and/or warning message: MIL
Symptoms:
  • Jerking/stalling
  • Slightly higher fuel consumption
  • Lack of power
  • Starting problem
Suspect Areas:
  • Air mixer
  • Electrical harness

Thanks for clarification of potential suspects.
Yesterday I ordered the said air mixer as well as two sets of gaskets.

First I’m going to inspect electrical harnesses and/or inside condition of „old” air mixer. If I don't find any irregularities or causes, I will replace the air mixer.

I will post an update after this weekend.

I am coming with good news - said problem is solved.
It was a mechanical fault as the disc inside was jumping between 4 or 5 positions when I was moving it by hand with significant force, in contrast the move in the new unit was smooth without any effort.
There were no gunk on the mechanism, so I suspect entirely mechanical failure of said disk mechanism.
Thanks for help, thread can be closed now.
