I recently purchased an RCZ which had an aftermarket touchscreen android headunit installed by the previous owner. Car has a flip up monitor which doesn't work with the aftermarket stereo so I obtained an NG4 stereo from a 308 convertible to work with the flip up screen.
When I installed the NG4 stereo into my rcz the screen popped up and the stereo started beeping with a message on the screen "connecting to sim card" or something like that.
Somehow the beeping has stopped and sound does comes through the speakers when I press radio or insert a dvd but there's no display even though the screen is on. Screen is not dead because when I press the red phone button it displays (in French) the option "yes" or "no" to make a call and when I press "oui" as in yes the screen goes blank again. Also when I try to connect via Bluetooth to my phone a message comes up (again in French) requesting to connect to my phone. When I press yes the screen goes blank. The screen is on but no display even though the radio and dvd player can still be heard through the speakers.
I then took out the stereo and connected it back to the donor car and it worked fine pop up screen and display worked with no issue.
Do I need to remove the flip up unit from the donor car as well in order for it to work in my RCZ? or do I need a software or firmware update.
Any ideas or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hi

You can't just connect the NG4 back up to the vehicle. It will first need VIN coding to your RCZ, which is why it will beep occasionally and won't be fully functional So it needs Peugeot planet or Diagbox to code it. Next, it is important to make sure the Head Unit is configured correctly for your specific vehicle's equipment and options, otherwise it may be retaining the characteristics from the donor vehicle.

Thank you for your reply Marc... However I took the car to a Peugeot/citroen specialist yesterday and they managed to stop the beeping using Diagbox. However there is still no display on the flip up screen. I've attached a picture of what the error was on diagbox. Something about not being able to communicate with the Multifunction display. They then took the stereo out and everything seems to be connected apart from one black plug that has 4 purple wires which has no socket or placement for it behind the NG4 headunit.
I'm just confused because when I try to connect to Bluetooth a message appears in French to connect to my phone but when you press yes the screen goes blank again. Parking radars show up on the screen when I'm parking so there's definitely nothing wrong with the screen. It just doesn't display radio/Satnav/or dvd.

So the other thing is to determine what system your Vehicle originally had fitted - again if it was not an NG4 unit, then there will be issues. These units cannot be simply swapped.

If you can supply your VIN I can determine what the car was already fitted with - which we need to know before we go any further. Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.

Ok, so at least you had an original NG4 fitted, which is half the battle. You need top ensure that the LVDS connection is made to the display screen. I'll have a look tomorrow when I have time to see if I can get the connection diagrams for you.

As well far as I can see the LVDS cable is connected. However it only displays parking radars. Nothing else.
Many thanks for your help.

The first connection is the main 12 way connection to the unit and the second is the LVDS connection.
RCZ 12 way.png
RCZ LVDS.png
If these are all in place then either you have a faulty NG4 or it has not been configured correctly for your specific vehicle options - parking assistance, equaliser amplifier, services module etc. etc. All these options should be checked in the BSI to ensure they are all set correctly as when the previous owner put that bloody android unit in, he may of changed some of the configured options and mucked it up to get the android unit working.

Now that you're reinstating an original unit, there may be some settings that need reverting back.

The only way to do this is to get Diagbox on it and check through all the BSI option pages. If you can do this with clear screenshots and upload them her to the forum in order, page by page, I may be able to check if there is anything incorrect that needs changing.
