Touchscreen 7' Great Britain/Ireland - 2022-2023

Post by Gioconda »

Hi all. Just about to push buy to get the Touchscreen 7' Great Britain/Ireland - 2022-2023 maps from Citroen. Does this include the firmware/system updates and the Bluetooth and display updates too? Checking the system info in my car, all versions are 08-01-15. If the maps don't have the updates, how does one update the rest? (by the way - the new maps are on sale on the website, £69 rather than £85)

Many thanks.

Firmware updates will only fix bugs or may improve the system / compatibility with later phones etc., it won't generally affect the mapping, which is a separate download.

If the maps require a later firmware, they will usually state this and / or provide a link / copy of the file. If it's not necessary for the later maps to function they won't generally supply the firmware.

Thanks Marc. Maps update went without a hitch. I wanted to try and update the rest (the System version, Bluetooth version and Display version are all from 2015) so downloaded the Citroen Update App and put in my VIN. Got 'CITROËN UPDATE does not allow the update for this vehicle. We recommend you to access to the website of the brand.' Any idea why?

It likely means the app is not compatible with the system - the update app is mostly for vehicles that have free maps for life - such as vehicles with connected navigation systems (NAC head units).

As your maps are purchasable, they'll provide the update via a download link and inject the vehicle code into the installation map update for your vehicle's head unit.

No - was just given a link to the updated Maps. System version, Bluetooth version and Display version still archaic. There's a million differing posts on here, as to how to upgrade firmware etc., most pointing to old URL's that have a version of SMEG5.2 C.R1 and above, but no definitive way to get a legitimate version of the firmware. Shall I not bother updating? Most chaps on here say there's not a major difference between the versions. Just hate to see old software...

Just update your maps and leave the system firmware as it is unless you are having any issues. Firmware updates can be risky to be honest.

Are we talking about SMEG or something else here? I suspect SMEG (or a SMEG+ variant) but I don't know.

SMEG5.2 C.R1 (CD: 26050) I'll take it to my local Citroen garage in Brentford, and if it's not fortunes, I'll see what they say about updates.
