Hi New to the forum but I have been watching for years. Tired of the Citroen Owners forum (Useless)

Brother and I acquired a Citroen C5 2.0 HD 2002 years ago. Bought for almost scrap money from an auction and is the best car we've ever bought. Everyone wants to borrow it as it is such a lovely drive. Had a few issues over the years but always been sorted. We love the car - brother says 'it's like putting on an old pair of slippers' every time he jumps in the drivers seat.

But we have a slight problem that is racking our brains. He was parked up the other day in the doctors car park and found a bright yellow plastic 'thing' between the foot brake and the clutch pedals It is roughly 40mm long, 20mm at one end tapering to 14mm at the other and we can't work out where it's from -- a picture is attached. We've checked the pedal set up and found nothing - checked the heater unit - nothing and currently are trawling around the steering column. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Cheers

It looks like it would be a clutch housing plug or other type of plug that has dropped down from that area or the foam from something like that.

Have any squeaks or noises suddenly disappeared or changed?

Don't recognise it. Is it soft or hard plastic? Any numbers or markings visible on it?
It could even be something that has been stuck on the sole of your shoe?

Thanks for the responses. It is hard plastic with no markings on it at all. There are no squeaks or bumps at all everything is as it was before.
I suggested "something carried in on his shoe" and had to duck very quickly as something very hard came flying through the air!!!! The item wasn't there when he got in the car and started off, but it was there when he parked up. He never got out the car at the car park as he was dropping off his daughter-in-law.

Re the clutch suggestion we have both checked around the pedal areas and cannot find anything missing or even where it would fit. the parts diagrams on the Citroen database don't show anything either.

It seems to be a guide of some sort or protector for something sliding but can't find anything in the area where t would apply.

Did it come out that clean? If so I'd guess it comes from somewhere up behind the dash not down near where the dust and rubbish gets.

SOLVED
After 3 hours plus of trawling around the floor of the C5 and dismantling everything on the steering column we found the part on the steering wheel adjustment There are two long springs that support the steering column to dash framework. They stop the steering column from dropping down when you release the adjustment lever. Fortunately one was still in place. The part fixes to the column under the spring (hence the curved shape) and guides/protects the spring as it flexes.

Why it should break and how the hell it escaped the shroud and padding I do not know. The steering wheel has been in the same place for at least 18 months!!!!

Just need to either repair or source a replacement.!!!!!!
