Re: Depollution System Faulty
In answer to your PM Barry:
The part you need is: 9807028580. This is the latest incarnation of the fusebox for this car. Citroen want about £228 retail for it, you can get them on ebay for about £185. Just Google the part number and nothing else and you will see many suppliers - just be careful to make sure that it is the exact part and not a different part number as some sellers are crafty and will give you the older fusebox saying it's compatible - which is not what you want. You want the latest box.
The connectors either have a swing over arm clamping system, or just some lugs that the plugs snap into that you need to release with a flat blade screwdriver and carefully prise out.
When you have your fuse box in sight with the plugs removed - a careful examination of the plugs and pins may reveal some corrosion or even some that have broken off or are missing.
Of course, none of us can be 100% sure this is the fault, but the fault codes do point to the fuse box as the possible culprit, along with wiring connections so is is probably the cheaper option.

Fuse box strip down
Has anyone managed to remove cover of a 2008 C5 and split the two halves of the fuse box to check and clean the wiring. (see photo)
I have removed all the fuses and bypassed the 6 latches on the edge but the cover seems solid, seems the sensible thing to do before paying out £185.
Cheers

These are not supposed to be user serviceable items Barry and more damage could be done if you were to break it apart, as I think these are bonded units.
There are internal relays and components that can become faulty, so unless you're a pretty skilled in electronic circuits, I'd leave well alone. These have been known to catch on fire too to, so be wary if dismantling with the intention of replacing it on the car.

If you're definitely going to replace with new you'll lose nothing except your time to take a peek inside.

Tempting, It would be good to find something wrong, but it is solid and would never go back together again, they usually make sure you can't service unserviceable units.

Re: Fuse box strip down
That looks like a CAN BUS BSM. The CAN BUS BSM's were (are) potted. That is, the circuit boards are conformally coated in RTV. Meaning, even if you did get the two halves apart you would be confronted with a huge blob of RTV! The VAN BUS BSM's only had a lacquer coating on the board(s).
The major failures in PSA BSM's are the crap relays the contractors use. Most other manufacturers use plug in relays, knowing they are a potential failure point.

Thanks' ozvtr, it's reassuring to know so many on this Forum are ready to condemn this fuse box, it will make it less painful buying a replacement, although I will still have my fingers crossed.
Sounds like there are plenty of variants, I am waiting for the supplier to cross reference the Part Number with the car Vin number before handing over £185

Re: Fuse box strip down
What is the part no on your fusebox as I have a spare box in my shed. I was going to sell on ebay once I photo'd it up. Going to sell for £50.

Re: Fuse box strip down
This is starting to cross over into the other thread: viewtopic.php?p=679675#p679675, where the fusebox issue has already been addressed and the correct part numbers for the VIN provided, so I'm now going to merge these 2 threads to avoid duplication of answers.
Barry, just make sure you buy part: 9807028580. This is the latest up to date data from Citroen direct. Make sure you view the pictures of the packing of any new units and this number should be on the box, so you can ensure it is the latest fuse box available specific to your vehicle.

Thanks Kennyw
But with the poor history of this unit I think buying a new unit is the best way forward.

Fitted brand new Fuse box, started great, no warning messages, driving for a mile till engine warm, then, DEPOLLUTION SYSTEM FAULTY, engine cuts out, back to square one.
