Re: Help me find my new car!
A completely hypothetical one this - as I'm not actually after another car, but I have often wondered what I would get after the C5, and not really come to any conclusions. On my shopping list is a car that can take 4 adults in comfort over many miles - as in a European road trip. I have to be able to fettle it myself. I'm not interested if it'll do under 400 miles to a tank, and I'd prefer it if it could get nearer 700 miles to a tank. It wouldn't be used that often, but when it it used, it'll do long miles in one go - I prefer to drive about 250 miles without a break and have always driven that way. I hardly ever do any 'town driving' - I either walk to the shops or get things mail order. Not fussed as to whether it's an estate or saloon, but it'd have to have a reasonable sized boot/luggage area. I'd much prefer to have something reliable and boring (and comfortable), than troublesome and fast. Budget up to £12k for a 2-3 year old car that's done under 50k. Ideally under £250/year road tax.
Shouldn't be too difficult to come up with at least a dozen possibilities.... and I don't mean one car with a choice of twelve different paint colours

Do I get my finders fee? Or does it fail on being a Citroen so unlikely you will be able to fettle it yourself!

Not too bad, but I'd prefer a more conventional 'car' style as opposed the MPV if that'd be possible

And then you went and spoilt it:

More about it on the web, and even a whole Wikipedia entry.

If I had 12k and your criteria Bobins I think I'd be looking at this:

Very nice, but a little ostentatious for my liking, and I dread to think what running costs are likemickthemaverick wrote: ↑15 Jul 2020, 18:10 If I had 12k and your criteria Bobins I think I'd be looking at this:

I don't mind a bit of fettling, but I don't want to be pulling my hair out due to a newly formed puddle of green fluid appearing underneath it

Just had son and grandson here to swipe my car. Told him about the Mazda and he says now that he won't need to transport his mountain bike any more - he will go with his mate in his transit. Bloody typical.
Still dithering, prevaricating and procrastinating otherwise it seems like a snap decision based on panic rather than a well considered decision.

Re: Help me find my new car!
I have commented here on my dislike of the process of having to buy a car and indeed started the sarcastically titled thread The pleasures of looking for a new car.... back in 2016 when looking for a replacement for the Picasso.
There is a contrast I find between buying something you want, and buying something that will do. I enjoyed buying the Leaf...I had always wanted to try an electric car, and it was a chance encounter, a see, try, buy within a couple of days. Last car I bought that I fancied and wanted was back in my 20's A Triumph GT6 followed by A Lancia Beta Coupe. All the others have been buy, put up 100,000 miles or more on them, scrap them....repeat.
So Steve is in the process at the moment, and I would say buy something you fancy its much more pleasurable in my book than buying something that you have to, just to get mobile again as quickly as possible.
Time for 1 minute 52 seconds of The Smiths again...

Re: Help me find my new car!
I am not particular Neil, just want a bimblingmobile®, I don't travel far these days. Mainly to Lidl ☺. Realistically Teesside, Whitby once every few years Maybe Guisborough as daughter #2 has bought a holiday cottage there to let out. Maybe Hadrian's wall but most places are not of any particular interest, nor most cars. The ones I would really like are unfeasibly expensive - don't forget I am from Yorkshire, therefore a miser.
There are some Citroens I would like but disqualified due to needing far too much upkeep now (CX, Xm).
Nothing recent is at all attractive, especially the DS range. Anything without hydropneumatic suspension is disqualified as that is the primary reason to select Citroens, the rest are just Peugeots. Al the original Citroen quirkiness has been bred out of them.
All cars now are much of a muchness. I won't have Fords or Vauxhalls. Alfas are nice but too high maintenance. As with Fiats, nothing exciting there. BMW and Audi of no interest whatsoever other than a 840 perhaps, beautiful but unrealistic
Same with a Mercedes CLS coupé, lovely swoopy and hilariously sad look about them. Can't find a decent photo of one. All pie in the sky anyway.
So a cheap oriental anonymous thing will have to do.

Re: Help me find my new car!
Whenever something from The Smiths or Morrisey comes on the radio I hit mute (or switch to my USB stick with all of my music on it).

Re: Help me find my new car!
I don't have that problem as if I have the radio on it is only Classic FM, until the news and/or adverts come on, otherwise it is CDs or LPs all the way.
But the Smiths/Morrisey always get skipped past anywhere else.

Unsurprisingly James and Steve I disagree! Not a Smiths fan by any means, but I do like some of their stuff including that one.
