On my car the catalystconverter is "clean" i still suspect an electrical glitch, and i will check the harness carfully tomorrow.
2700 aprox are max rpm when standing still or running down the road.

Are there any sensors on the exhaust system? A faulty one could account for a temperature related fault.

Very strange. not heard of this problem with this engine. Failing all else I would be inclined the change the HP regulator, I have had all sorts of faults on one I had in one of the early C5s. I probably have a spare one here somewhere - if I can find it.

this is a very strange car ;-) but if the HP reg was faulty it would not read perfect in data i think.
I have now removed the enginecompartment harness to se if there is any visible wounds that could generate this "limp mode"
The story continiue :-)

Can't really help you there. Does it actually read OK under the fault condition at 2700 rpm? I had several different faults caused by different regulators but didn't analyse any of them, it just cured whatever the problem was when I fitted a decent one.

I had a Nissan with a kind of similar fault, it would start and run perfectly for around 3kms and then it ran like a dog. I could get it to go if I floored the accelerator but anything else it would miss, judder and throw different engine faults at me including the occasional limp mode. If I stopped and rested for a while it would start and run fine and then around 3km later.....
A dozen garages gave a dozen different answers. It wasn't until I took the exhaust off (getting ready for a strip down and rebuild of the head) and took the exhaust to a friend to get some fused bolts out that we found the cat had partially collapsed. Cleared it out, reattached and the problem disappeared.

Had the same on our RAV4 D4D a long time ago. Engine ran out of puff, and struggled to reach 3000rpm. Started and idled ok.
Swung the exhaust to one side, after the downpipe, and the car ran perfectly - and amazingly quietly, since the turbo smooths out the exhause pulses.
Found that the cat ceramic honeycomb was largely blocked with soot/carbon.
Cleaned out (don't ask) and full power returned.

Chris, my cat. are so clean that "Greta" will cry, ;-)
I have now changed the relay to glowplugs with the same error as before, checked out width planet2000 today and the code is still there and could not be cleared.
Checked the harness in engineroom with no luck either. The car is wery close to a junkyard now.

If you think it is temperature related (where I suspect it might be time) there is an easy test I'd try. Take the thermostat out, this mean the engine takes another few minutes at idle to warm up to the temperatures you are seeing the fault occur. If the fault still happens at the temperature setting you are seeing then it is a heat issue, if it happens over a similar time but hasn't reached the temperature then it might point more to an exhaust issue of some kind. The hardest part is working out the why, not the fix.
