Lots about them on wikipedia, including their UK operation
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Essar_Group.

When I first looked at the photos, was hit by the similarity to Esso's corporate colours/typeface, so wondered whether... But, no.

  Where the hell has this "Welp/Welp" nonsense come from?
I keep seeing it lately. Room 101 for that s**t!
Whelp, it looks like ditching the EU didn’t rain on the UK’s plans for the sparkling green renewable hydrogen economy of the future. Earlier this week word slipped out that Phase 2 of the so-named “Gigastack” industrial-scale green H2 project is barreling full steam ahead. Danish wind giant Ørsted is collaborating in the project along with three other heavy hitters: ITM Power, Phillips 66 Limited, and Element Energy.

Perhaps appropriately used/popularised in "Dumb and Dumber"

I doubt they would let anyone anywhere near it Neil.
It must be near the Chester-Le Street turn off, the Beeb says junctions 62-64 but Google places 62 near Grantham :(
Other sources disagree.
ITV news says it was five hours ago so all done and dusted by now I expect. Haven't noticed any heliclopters either.

I've heard some excuses in my time Steve, :rofl2: However as Mr Cherry said "Hydrogen is quite a volatile gas in air." I wouldn't want to see an FCF stalwart doing an impersonation of the Hindenberg!! :-D

Would likely get shot for approaching it.

Many years ago I was dragged in to doing the photography in and around Whitby for the Northern Echo and would have been straight in there.
Less enthusiasm now.

It was probably on fire already.... hydrogen has some odd characteristics in that it heats up as it expands (whereas most gasses cool) and it has a very low ignition energy (although a very high auto ignition temperature) - these combine to mean that hydrogen leaks often ignite by themselves - although the flames are invisible! I suspect they just left it to burn off.
