Server outage 29/01/2020

Brexit came early. The site was off-line for about 3 hours earlier today.

The VPS that this server runs on simply turned itself off. There is no indication in the logs of anything remotely unusual happening, but switching it back on seems to have fixed the issue.

A few years ago when this forum was hosted on a server located under the stairs at Jim's house, a similar thing happened when he knocked the power plug while vacuuming the house, but we now use a professional hosting service who should be more careful with the vacuum cleaner.

Indeed, it's their revenge... I'm just glad I got a rather large procedure uploaded before it went toes up.

I guessed something odd had happened, is there a way of lobbing up a page saying "Normal Service will be resumed as soon as possible do not adjust your set".

Yes I thought the Chinese bots maybe took umbrage to my thread on 5G!
