407 Airbag Problem

Post by rookie65 »

407 2.2 Petrol Manual Sedan, Right hand drive
I have an Airbag fault.
Diagbox gives code E601, Level 1 drivers air bag ignition module fault
Cause Local
Characterisation of the fault Resistance to high

I have removed the Airbag, it has 2 ignitors, both read only 0.4 ohms with the shorting strip isolated. This seems odd as the error code is resistance to high.

I have removed the COM2003 unit and I am getting continuity through it from the Airbag plugs to the 2 outer lower plugs.

I have checked the connector under the Drivers Seat
Any ideas?
Thanks

E601 points to a fault on the driver airbag line first level - Resistance too high as you say. Measurement of an impedance higher than the maximum resistance threshold on the level one driver’s air bag line.

The suspect area is the Driver’s pyrotechnic trigger line assembly.

In order to get a diagram, you'll have to post your VIN up.

Ok, so here's a diagram - may or may not be much help - there is not further detail unfortunately for the earlier models.

6565 is the drivers's airbag.
You might find the code guide useful on the Wiki - the codes are in ascending order and in sections.

Thanks for that.
I have placed 2 x 3.3 ohm resistors in the 2 outer plugs of the Com2003 unit. The Airbag warning then goes away so it is either the Com2003 unit or the Airbag.
I have ordered some replacements.
