Re: Once Again I Own A Xantia
Well what can i say apart from fingers crossed i am not setting myself up for a fall
2570 miles of trouble free motoring after the spheres and LHM change for Hydraflush and now i need to look at replacing the Hydraflush for LHM.
Any hints on where to get LHM from at a reasonable price will be most welcome
It is also time for me to get both drop links done and a basic service done, oil+filter plus fuel and air filter.
I am going to get it sent to a garage to do the service items and drop links done ( i will supply the drop links, good ones ) as time is limited for me but as much as i trust the garage i prefer to do the LHM change and bleed myself
And she is turning in a healthy average of 52 mpg

Re: Once Again I Own A Xantia
I prefer to syphon the LHM out of Xantias, aquarium tubing, old 5ltr engine oil bottle, start the syphon, go and have breakfast, I seem to get 3 litres or so, for bleeding I like to run a pipe from bleed nipple to reservoir and a stick pressing the brake, discard the first bit then let it flow, rears I bleed into a bottle, wheels off, hubs supported, bleed a good quantity. the rear brake circuit is long.
BXs since 1993 built 1.9 TZD turbo, got a S2 Xantia estate, brilliant car! 2013, Xantia HDI LX 110 2000 new car with 122,000, l C2 HDI Rusty rocket, C3 Picasso HDI new to me.

Re: Once Again I Own A Xantia
Love these cars had two a mark1 and a mark2 ,
HDI smooth
1.9XUD old school
Both very much liked if i had the choice I'd have another mk1.
My mk1 was wrote off thanks to a boy racer going right across the front of me one evening on a very hard bend , he decided to go straight into the junction , not his right of way ,then tried blaming me till the police told him he was to blame and was doing 70 in a 30 zone, my car front was mangled, I'd only had it 6 months and absolutely loved it to bits.
The lad who caused all this had only been on the road for 6 weeks after passing his test.
Moral of this... Not sure really
Maybe get rid of idiots on our roads ??
Good luck with the hdi, sold my one last winter road tax prices getting to high, plus having a zx estate and another little car one had to go , the hdi went it sold first !

Re: Once Again I Own A Xantia
Could be the make or the distributor.
TRW are generally respected (I used to work for them but a different discipline).
The other's were coming up at over £12 Litre.
I did notice that Total is coming up as ELF in a lot of cases. They merged a few years ago.
If there is a JCB dealer near you they sell it too and I saw a midlands farm machinery with it for tractors, harvesters and earth moving machinery but it wasn't green.

Re: Once Again I Own A Xantia
Well an update
It would appear that my memory and counting upto 12 needs some rebooting lol
I knew when i bought it she had a new 12 month MOT, but forgot the fact that i bought it some 7-9 weeks after it was originally listed, hence idle thought to check the MOT expiry came up with 09/09/2019
So having taken my eye off the ball with issues with the C4 ( now all sorted ) and getting close to the 5km limit with the hydraflush i swapped cars with the good lady the last 3 weeks as she only does 150km per week, i do that in 2 days.
So today i have changed the hydraflush for LHM+ and cleaned the filters and re bleed the brakes. Pollen filter, air filter replaced, have slight concerns over the handbrake % for the MOT but having done the idiots adjustment it seems to be better, does not stall the car on 3 clicks but 5 it does.
Booked on Tuesday 3rd for its oil + filter change, fuel filter and fitting of the droplinks + MOT.
Filters were not as bad as i feared after the previous fluid change, very little black bits or hideous colour of fluid, though more yellowish than clear but definitely not black like before
Did the usual Citroebics to check everything was okay but the rear would not rise from low to normal, was happy to go from low to high and back to normal, the front was quite happy to behave itself, infact the rear would not rise from low unless set to high.
However i forgot i had the same issue with every Xantia i have owned, my lad reminded me
Our driveway behind the gates is sloped, not up and down but side ways, our shared driveway slopes down and sideways, as soon as i moved the car out onto the road ie flat she behaved herself and is now quite happy to move between height settings.
Put her back behind the gates and she refuses to rise from low at the back:(
Just a normal 6 sphere set up so can only assume that maybe the rear HC dog bone is worn and at the angle of my driveway it does something to the mechanism but any help/opinions/suggestions welcome but it has happened with my old VSX that hydractive suspension lol
Just to explain how bad the slope is left to right on high suspension setting the oil warning low level light will flash, even though the level itself is correct
Bad news is my lad is being put on the insurance to take it to and from the MOT station ( his C5 is other posts by him ) and i get the feeling he wants it, why else would he say put me on the insurance for 5 days.
And no not because it is a Citroen and that is how long it will take to get it through an MOT lol

Re: Once Again I Own A Xantia
Well just got back from work to be met with a courtesy car from the garage in the drive and no Xantia
Good news is the boy went out for the day and did not get back in time to collect the Xantia
Another Xantia lives for another 12 months, a clean MOT with No Advisories
Just hope he does not get to like it too much as he has it for a few days
