Well hello guy's
While driving along yesterday on my way to Cleethorpes ( fish and chips) the orange engine light and the esp light came on and the car went into limp mode so as you can guess it is In Evans Halshaw Citroen in Doncaster. As most of you will know this car has cost me a bloody lot of money in repairs.
Guy;s should I be worried ?????????

Re: Engine light/abs
Again, couls be several issues as the ESP system interacts with many aspects fo the car - electronic handbrake, engine speed, stability and braking systems of course, suspension, ABS wheel sensors, Accelerometer sensors, steering wheel angle etc., etc.
So without the good old fault code could be a hundred different things. It may be one of the ABS wheel sensors - has any other work been done recently? A dodgy connector or a trapped / pinched / shorting wire.... you get the picture, but I hop it is something small and simple to fix.

Yse ditto from me Renagade, I hope that it is small and simple to fix. Let's hope Evans Halshaw Citroen in Doncaster are the exception and don't try to do something big and expensive first

Re: Engine light/abs
That's rather excessive.
My C5 was crap when I got it.
Had all the pipes and EGR cleaned and a new intercooler (holed) then the injectors cleaned and one that was a bit duff refurbished, done by a local diesel specialist. About £150 IIRC. Went much better after that.
That would have been about six years ago.

Re: Engine light/abs
The OEM ones are actually £466.45 each inc. VAT and their slightly cheaper exchange ones are £330.42 each inc. VAT. That excludes labour of course. So I suspect they will have quoted for the cheaper ones -
£1101.40, ex VAT, plus the labour and the lovely VAT on that - so £2k is about right via Dealer. But all 4 injectors? Hmmm......

Re: Engine light/abs
Have you got a local Indy diesel specialist nearby? Shame to throw the car away after all the work you've had done and if you sell in it's current state that will hit it's resale value. Best of luck

Re: Engine light/abs
I am curious to know what equipment or method would be used to diagnose faulty injectors, or would it be just a guess based on previous experience of these engines?

Re: Engine light/abs
Seconded. Surely the only way to definitively test an injector is on a test rig. Very expensive presumption otherwise.

Re: Engine light/abs
There are the obvious tests in Diagbox on the injectors that measure flow etc.....

Re: Engine light/abs
I agree Marc, but these values, though very helpful, rely on uncalibrated / unknown condition vehicle sensors along with the on board 'puters translating the info

Re: Engine light/abs
Surely a simple leak back test would indicate a faulty injector (s) for a basic test - whichever ones are filling more quickly and with comparatively higher return volume will be faulty. That would be a signal to re move the specific injector for further testing or replacement.
