Water Leak 2006 HDI

Post by Gerry Laing »

Hi
New to the forum hoping to find help on fixing a water leak

I have a Xsara Picasso 1.6 Hdi and its developed water Leak from the right hand side of engine and runs down onto the gear box, it appears to come from under what I think is the fuel filter area any help would be appreciated.

As you can appreciate, that will be hard to diagnose on a forum. You'll need to trace the leak back to the source.

Taking some photos may help, which you can upload to the Forum.

There are too many possibilities without further info, such as the water pump, any one of a number of water hoses, a leak in the radiator which is running back onto another area, etc....

Hi Mark
Had a quick look last knight and appears to be coming from what I believe is the thermostat and only starts to leak when the engine is warm and the thermostat opens.

Yes, the stat is in a plastic housing bolted on the end of the engine under the fuel filter on this engine. It's only available as a complete plastic unit including the stat - no doubt Citroen want £££, but it's widely available as an aftermarket spare. I was going to change the one on my 307 as it was running cool, but it rusted away instead!!
