Hi guys,
I have a Peugeot 407 2007 57 plate. I need to remove the washer jets from the bonnet to be able to clean them. And advice on how to get them off.
Many thanks

Re: 407 washer jets
Hi and welcome.
They simply clip in when pressed into the hole from the top of the bonnet, as you can see in the diagram. To release, you just need to use a blunt tool to pust the clip in to release it - then push it through the top of the bonnet.

Hi. Thank you for this. If this didn't work what else could be the issue. I'm thinking the non return valve is broken.
Thanks Josh

Re: 407 washer jets
Ok, so you only asked me how to remove them - you didn't specify what the problem is
6438Z1 is the part number. There are aftermarket ones available for a few quid:

The original ones are £15 from Peugeot - but it doesn't specify if that is for a pair or each.
If the water is not spraying and you can hear the pump working, then check the actual washer hoses - these can get kinked over time and then cause a crease in the pipe that stops the water flowing.
If not this, take the washer hose off the jet nozzle and operate the washers - if the water still doesn't come out then suspect the pump has had it - again, these are cheap enough to replace.

Thankyou. The pump is working and water is coming out of the hoses but just didn't come out of the actual jets.

Re: 407 washer jets
I replaced mine with aftermarket ones from halfords when I couldnt get a great spray from them. I had tried pins, air line, and wasted a lot of time but only could get a dribble out of them. There was plenty water coming out of the pipes though so it could only be the nozzle

Re: 407 washer jets
Ok, so you could take a punt on a couple of these at a few quid for 2. But note that when you fill your washer tank up, really be careful to ensure there is NO grit or crud in the container from which you are filling it from. The smallest bit sand is enough to block the washer nozzle. Once it's in the nozzle, it will be almost impossible to get it out as it it is so small.JoshWiggill wrote: ↑06 Mar 2019, 13:56 Thankyou. Okay thankyou both for your help. I will order some new washer jets. When u clipping them must you doing it from the tool of the bonnet or underneath. I have had a look at the underneath of the bonnet and there is a small rectangular opening.. just wondering as I don't want to damage the paint work.
Thanks

Re: 407 washer jets
I was lucky, it was luck and not design that the ones I bought were supposed to go in from the top and had a nut to hold them. However if I remember correctly I couldnt get the nut on but the threaded splind on the nozzle fitted perfectly in the square hole like a mini ratchet and they just pushed in and have never moved since

Re: 407 washer jets
I've had mine out a few times and back-flushed them with hot water which has worked every time.
I should get a new cap for the washer bottle as I'm sure crap is getting in there.

Some jets might need descaling, if they've been run on tapwater-based screenwash.

Re: 407 washer jets
My washers have turned from jets to a mere dribble. Do I need to remove the cover from under the bonnet to get them out ?
Also, some of the issue may be due to a leak. Can’t quite see where it coming from but when I open the bonnet water drips down from the offside where the feed pipe runs. I’ve poked about a bit and the pipe seems to take a weird route around the hinge. Think I’ll just have to rip it all out n fix it.

Re: 407 washer jets
Try using a pin inside the actual ball of the jet of the washer. These can become blocked with grit or other fine particles. They are easy enough to unclip and are cheap enough to replace.

Re: 407 washer jets
Tried that n made it worse ! There doesn’t seem to be any jet I can see in there, the hole the water comes out of is oblong. Unless it’s hidden ?
