Hello

Post by HanaAna »

Greetings from Finland!
It seems that I'm the kind of person that seeks trouble when it comes to cars :-D . Because life was too easy with 2CV and DSuper, I got involved with Xantias. I've owned those 2CV and D-model for 9 yrs now. My earlier drives BX 16RE -89, BX 19GTI -90, C5 2.0 -06 , C4 1.6 hdi bmp -07.
Year ago things changed when I got my first Xantia, V6 Break -00. It took me 3 months to put it together. Did all of the rear hydraulics and lot of welding and "few" other things. And what a great ride it became, I did 15k miles with it before I sold it couple of months ago when I bought Activa V6 -98 ....

Greetings back at you from the UK. Hopefully one day I'll visit the Nordic countries in my 405.

Trouble & old cars go together, but its satisfying sorting them....

...and while something newer and more expensive might be less trouble, its often a more complex and expensive brand of trouble when it arrives.

That is so true! I think I've reached the max year and level of complexity with my Activa. Actually at the moment it feels that I've exceeded the limit of acceptable complexity :-D , but too easy would not give the satisfaction mentioned...

My impression is that all Finns are mad - but perhaps that's just the 2CV owners

Many people might think your choice of 3 cars confirms my impression - BUT, of course, we understand perfectly. Interesting that you rate the Activa as more complex than the DS - a car whose complexities (unconventionality?) actually frightened people away.

:-D :-D All Finns ARE mad. But so are all the people getting Citroens

Activa feels complex because I've winded up to a situation that I cannot fix H2 - system being in a firm mode. So its the electrics, can't get parts and can't get information(electric drawings etc.). I don't know what happens after this Activa? Probably I have to get another one just to see how it goes
One could add that I'm balancing life with older British bikes. Norton N15CS -66 and Triumph 750 -71 :-D

Give it time. There are people who KNOW the Activa, and have the ability to pass the information on. It may just be that they are away from the Forum at the moment.

Absolutely! There are already LOT of info about Activa and H2. I'll never give up :-D I chose this path knowing that there will be challenges every now and then.

At the risk of upsetting the Citroen Car Club (or, at least, its members who also subscribe to this forum) you've landed in the right spot as this is probably the best source of info about Xantias generally & Activas in particular. James is absolutely right but he didn't mention is that those with the expertise are also very shy so, even now are trying to pluck up the courage to share their knowledge with you.
As for parts, we might very well be ableto help there too, if only to suggest where to get them here & have them sent. :)

van ordinaire: Already feels like home  One definitely needs all the possible connections when it comes to parts that have become extinct. And its great to see how openly people share their ideas and knowledge. In my case I don't expect other people to solve my problems, but it is priceless to be pointed into correct direction :-D every now and then. And to have some mental support too!
