Yes, I've dropped a googgly
Had to replace the rear discs and pads today, I DIDN"T disable the handbrake and now I have one cable connected and one that I can't get back into the caliper.
Is there a way of disabling the electronics? or somewhere in either Diagbox or Lexia ( I have both) that i can do it and then pull the cable to the correct length?

Re: X7 Electric handbrake
Have you tried releasing the handbrake by switching engine off and with foot on brake hold down handbrake release button?
If so, then you'll need to use diagbox to go into the EPB ECU and release it from there, reattach the cable and then re-enable it so that the cables are reconnected.

Re: X7 Electric handbrake
You may need to have your foot on the brake, with ignition on and then hold down the parking brake release button then switch off to release it - you can try either way.

Re: X7 Electric handbrake
Ok Got the handbrake auto on disabled but I still can’t get the cable to come back far enough to reconnect it to the caliper.
The off side door s connected, it’s the near side I’m having problems with

Re: X7 Electric handbrake
Ok, I'll have a look shortly for those codes - but it seems to indicate that an operation was interrupted and not completed - never a good thing as it can leave things in a 'stuck' state.
You don't want to be in this menu from memory - you need to be in the place where you release the electronic handbrake - as if you were going to replace the rear pads again - probably in the repair menu or similar. That's the bit you need to get it to fully decouple the cables to allow them to release enough as if you were replacing the pads again. Then when complete, you follow the procedure to re-attach them again Steve.
I'll see if I can dig something up...

Re: X7 Electric handbrake
Ok my thought are that because only one cable is connected, you should try the release from Diagbox as I said in previous post - DO NOT use that routine to reinitialise.
If you cannot get it to release from Lexia as if doing the procedure from scratch, then you may have to use the emergency manual release system contained in the centre armrest. This will effectively release the cables completely - then get the cable properly hooked up and then follow the procedure to reinitialise it:
Pulling on the back-up mechanical control for manual release of the parking brake separates the hook "m" from the manual release mechanism "g", so releasing the forces transmitted to the brake calipers by the secondary cables.
Following release of the electric parking brake by means of the manual release mechanism, the rear brake secondary cables must be reconnected.
The reconnection procedure is carried out by the electric parking brake ECU at the request of the user or of the ESP.
During the reconnection procedure, the electric parking brake ECU controls the motor in the maximum release direction to bring the splined shaft to its stop.
The hook "m" hooks onto the manual release mechanism "g", the rear secondary cables are attached again.

Re: X7 Electric handbrake
Ok, I’ve tried that and nothing, exactly the same. I’ve tried the yellow emergency release and nothing.
The only thing I get when I try to go through Lexia is the same screens as above

Re: X7 Electric handbrake
So when you applied the emergency release it has basically detached the cables from the electronic control, so they should be loosened so that you can connect it back onto the calliper. Have you now attached the cable?
