Is it just me, i guess it probably is but...............
Spent a good few years posting lots when i first found the forum, quite active in my posts not just regarding my own problems and then i had a good few years of trouble free Citroens, ( yes they do behave sometimes ) but having found the forum again, okay i needed help, but i found myself reading lots of old posts about stuff that is nothing to do with cars i have or had, so much good will and fun inter woven with such good advice, hints and tips.
Nostalgia at the ripe old age of 52
......I think it comes from the fact that most of us drive - or have driven - French cars, and mainly Citroens....... so we need a sense of humour and all the help we can get
..also that less and less people are still repairing their own cars, I still do as I can't afford to do otherwise but I don't know for how much longer. I too like the forum for its light relief.

Bought my FIRST Citroen about 8 weeks ago,renewed front pads and disks.
Advisory from last 2 MOT's..
Renewed the back exhaust box,lealing..
Have 2 shocks to fit, Which I have attempted twice,,WHY,,,I Was violently sick both times..
I think crawling round cars at 75 is not my cup of tea any more..

Can someone tell me what are the BOLTS HEADS,On my car,can feel the head it either feels like a TORX or a Large Alan Key ,Can anyone advise please..
I don't want to get there again and find I don't really know what it is.?.

PS: Did have to replace Starter at 2 weeks old..But now Runs Beautifully..

Which bolts? PSA use torx 95% of the time, but there is an occasional Allen head thrown in to create confusion.

The BOLTS in Question are the SHOCK BOLTS x 2 top ONLY have this configuration.
The LOWER ones are Normal bolt heads,why.?.
Anyone got a diffinitve answer please.

The bolts on the top of the front struts of the 406 are large torx but very shallow, don't know if yours are similar. What are you doing with shocks on a Xantia?

Did manage to wiggle a Large TORX in the head of Round headed Bolt at the TOP of SHOCK REAR.. What the heck would you do if it Stripped out,?,,,, Would this just PUSH OUT,,or would it be threaded both ends,,, I doubt it but just a thought,Just want to NOT Get the Size wrong make more trouble..Did HEAT The bolts on the CALIPHER HOLDER,,WIth a hot air gun, They came undone Easy..

Well yes I did test it on a 5/8 Rustednut and Bolt.
I had Just purchased a 30v 3amp hammer gun,so wanted to TEST IT.
Without heat the threads spun in the vice,it flattened the threads,amazing that was,lol.
I then HEATED IT UP With the Hot Air Gun,which I had sprayed with WD40, I could smell the bolt giving off heated fumes,,Then tried again...It came undone DEAD EASY.
So heating with Hot Air gun till I could smell the hot fumes,,it was no trouble at all.
Having tested it on the Bolt,I then used it on my BRAKE CALHIPER Holder,That came off really easily.
I had tried before with Long Breaker Bar,it would not move at all.?.
I had BROKEN ONE BRAND NEW TORX On that.
So the Heat Gun will be the way I go ALWAYS,,Why Struggle at all,and risk breaking bolts etc..
I had to aim it away from rubber gaiters as well,,They never even got warm.
I suppose I could have put a piece of plate between them to make sure,but didnt need to as I I had the angle to deflect heat away..Amazed by result..
PS:::: I think the Shock Bolts (TOP REAR) Are TORX 66..
