Not me, someday soon!.
Need your help on this just changed from a 2003 Mk1 so not up to speed on X7 issues.
Problem is this. On turning on ignition and starting have no Sat nav, Radio and all associated systems until it all boots up and then everything is fine until you nip into a shop, for instance, and then have to go thru it all over again. If it was a laptop I'd be changing the CMOS battery. All help gratefully accepted.
Thanks, Norman

Hi Norman, pop up your VIN or PM it, so I can determine exactly which system you have.

To be honest that sounds normal. If it's long enough for the BSI to go to sleep then it's long enough to require the complete start-up procedure.

This will be system dependent - I've just made a quick video of my Navidrive 3D for comparison - no delays at all. The first is on starting up the car first time in 2 days, then a switch off and restart (it comes back on as soon as the ignition is switched on, then off and straight on when the engine starts):

Ok, so you have the 'RT4' system Norman. That was the earlier telematic system before they changed them from 2009 on. I've now moved this thread to the RT4 section of the Telematics Forum.
It uses a 30 GB hard drive inside the unit, of which 10GB is reserved for user data including the Jukebox. Do you use the Jukebox function to rip CDs / copy MP3 files over to the unit at all?
Over time the hard disk, (although a robust automotive grade) can slow down somewhat. Do you know what version of firmware you have on the unit? The latest version of firmware is 8.31.
If you are contemplating this, the part number is 9679242580 from Citroen. It will cost you £7.40 inc. VAT and is the firmware update on CD.
Firmware V8.31 corrects the following issues:

- Display of phone number instead of contact name during a phone call.
- Failure to detect radars.
- Slow boot up time.
- Stuck display on boot up screen

Re: Memory loss 2008 X7 Exclusive
Actually, I have just realised I have a confession to make
I actually removed the Hard drive in my Navidrive 3D unit a few years ago and replaced it with a CF card upgrade. I did this to preserver the Hard Disk as they are nearly impossible to purchase now. Mine is a 40 GB automotive version and very very hard to find. So I cloned my Hard drive with all the partitions and replaced it with a CF solid state card so that if it ever fails I can just clone the card and replace again or reinstall using my firmware that creates all the partitions for you.
That is probably another reason why mine boots a lot faster - but to be honest it was never really that slow. I only remembered that I had done the upgrade after I posted the video!

Excellant info Marc,
Ok, sounds like start with the later firmware. I'll check mine out later. Plus very interested in your CF Mod, sounds like way to go. Hard drive failure could be pretty annoying not to mention expensive and time consuming to sort.
As I've not had the car long I've not ripped any cd's yet ( that's my main hobby HiFi) . How many discs can it hold, and how do I delete most of previous owners cds, some are worth keeping. Now the horn has stopped working, not fuse

Re: Memory loss 2008 X7 Exclusive
Do you need a user manual Norman? I have one I can send you with the RT4 guide in PDF if you like.
I do have the firmware which a colleague has used fine on his RT4, but he has the USB mod so upgraded via that.
It’s just that these updates can go horribly wrong if the CD isn’t in the right format, or if there is a clit h during the update and could affect the unit, so I do advise members to get the CD officially from the dealer. But you are welcome to it if you want.

Re: Memory loss 2008 X7 Exclusive
I've got the RT4 system and have attempted the CF mod. To date I have been unsuccessful; the RT4 refuses to recognise the CF card.
I've tried 3 different adapters and different CF cards. The problem is that UDMA6 CF cards are hard to come by now, as that is the newest the RT4 will support.
With regards to the boot time, the RT4 'cheats', at least on later firmwares. When the car is unlocked the RT4 is roused from its slumber and will begin booting in the background so that it's ready by the time you've sat down and turned the key.

Ok, so to check the system version:-
- Hold down the MENU button on the system
- Then select the "Audio/telephone diagnostics"
- Then select "Device description"

I see why they called the town Cardigan, if you needed 19degree cabin heat.

Re: Memory loss 2008 X7 Exclusive
Are you saying I'm tight by any chance?
Hey, I usually have it at a comfortable 18 - even in the winter - but I had a neighbour in the car a few days ago picking them up from hospital after a lung drain, so had the car super heated, given that it was sub-zero in the A&E!
I just turned them back down recently - but we are in the torrential ablutions here at the moment!
