Wet front footwells C5 estate 56 plate

Post by MFHBlueberry »

Owned this car for 18 months now and in the last week we’ve had a lot of rain. The front footwells are filling with water. Does anyone know where the drain holes might be or where best to check for leaks? It has a sunroof but the drain holes look clear enough...

Thanks!

No answer as to where the problem is.

I would note to you that (if the same as a Xantia) the moulded foam under the carpet ABSORBS water and the ONLY way of drying it out is removing the carpet to which the foam is attached.

Check the actual underside of the doors too - the drain holes may be blocked allowing water to get into the footwells from there. You should be able to see them from underneath the door when wide open. Water can get in from the rain channels of the windows and fill up.

Also possible that the inner plastic lining behind the door cards has been torn out if the car has had window winder trouble, causing the water never to get down as far as the drain holes.

May have fixed it... The drivers side bulkhead drain hole was blocked so I attacked it with my pressure washer. Just got to work on drying things out now.

Thanks for the replies!
