C2 central locking issue

Post by Gess »

Good afternoon.

I’m looking for some help as I’m baffled with the issue I’m currently having with the central locking on my 04 c2 sx.

When I use the key fob to open the doors. The interior light comes on and the indicators flash. But the doors aren’t unlocked apart from the boot.

Only way I can open the door is by key for the drivers door and by pulling the handle on the passenger door.

When I lock the car the interior light goes off you hear a clunk and the indicators come on solid for about 5 seconds and all the doors are locked.

I have done a full bsi reset found the procedure in this forum but it didn’t work. Got a new battery for the fob just Incase and nothing has changed.

Checked all the fuses and they are all correct and intact.

Head unit is original to the car. This car hasn’t been modified in any way so I know that isn’t the issue.

I’m at a loss can any one help?

Does the car lock & unlock normally with the button on the dash ?
Have you had a look for broken wires between the body & the doors ?

Morning. Thank you for the reply. The button on the dash only locks the car.
I did forget to mention that I had a pal put his diagnostic on it and it wouldn’t allow him to access the alarm. He seems to think it’s something to do with that.
I didn’t even think to check the wires between the door and body. I’ll take the door card off in the morning and have a look

Does an SX model C2 have an alarm ??
The central locking is controlled by the BSI anyway, not the alarm.
It would be the rubber sleeve between the body & the door you want to look at rather than behind the door panel.

I’ve just been going through a full vin check. Probably being an absolute tool here. It says it doesn’t have a compact disc. But my head unit has a CD player?

I've sent you the VIN information via email.

You have the RD3 Radio Head Unit, that contains a CD slot. It's all on the printout I sent you - this is a proper list of fitted kit as your car was, when it left the factory.

Ok, so the alarm itself will just be the ultrasonic / perimetric protection system, so that won't deal with the locking issue and you don't have that in any case.

I suspect it is likely to be either a broken wire in the driver's door somewhere (or in the door crevice where the wires go from the engine bay to the door) that is stopping the door module from unlocking the doors. I'll have a look to see if I can confirm this on the wiring diagram in a bit.

Marc you are a god send. I’m just locking at the rubber piece between body and door and there is no wear on it. I suspect I’ll have to take the door card off in the morning to get a proper look to see if there is a wire issue. Will update in the am once I’ve had a gander
