Most here will be familiar with my Jackie Evancho obsession and my liking for Lucia Micarelli playing her "Rockstar" violin.
Here they are combined:

Not actually together. Someone has taken Jackie's voice from one track and glued it in to a track by Lucia - originally with Josh Groban as the singer.

PE Jukebox-10 mildly amusing tracks! Selections please

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Let us give this theme a try, see if we can't get a playlist of 10 mildy amusing tracks (yes its very unlikely that a hilarious track has ever been written) :-D

What I would describe as gentle light entertainment all the better with a familiar chorus to join in with!

Everone has heard this one.....surely

and the PE punters can join in with the familiar chorus....."It all makes work for the working man to do"

Btw, did you know that one-time Newsnight (and now Morgan Grenfell)'s Stepanie Flanders is Michael Flanders' grand-daughter?

'A Transport of Delight' (diesel omnibus) and 'The Hippopotamus Song' (mud, mud...) worm their way in too.
And a bit of John Betjeman, maybe?
Possibly Gerald Hoffnung (the building site)?
And if you remember all the words, Tom Lehrer's 'Elements' (periodic table set to music).

Oddball enough, Neil?

Here's one for you - remember my Father playing their records when I was a nipper -
Unfortunately Google Translate doesn't work on this one!

Here's another one from The Five Penny Piece:

Well, while the relevant song is not funny it has landed the group Lindisfarne in court. The charge is allowing their property to cause disruption and mayhem to a large number of people in the surrounding area. To be honest the group hasn't got a leg to stand on, as they publicly admitted ownership of the offending article. What is the song in question?
Spoiler: show
"Fog on the Tyne", with the chorus
"‘Cause the fog on the Tyne is all mine, all mine
The fog on the Tyne is all mine
The fog on the Tyne is all mine, all mine
The fog on the Tyne is all mine"
OK, silly joke, but I was feeling (as usual) in a silly mood!

P.E.Jukebox-10 mildly amusing tracks-Selections pleaseal....

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Back to peruse the selections so far, more than happy with them, far better when others join in.

I like the genre...Flanders and Swann were also parodied in Armstrong and Miller as Donald Brabbins and Teddy Fyffe with some much nearer the knuckle offerings.

So keep then coming.....yes, and even those songs from Bernard Cribbins and even Val Doonican could make it to the pickled egg with enough support!
Spoiler: show
yes its "Right said Fred!" and "Delaney's Donkey" I was thinking of, seeing as I still remember the words to this day!

Now Chris, the audience in Gerard Hoffnung's little tale are finding it hilarious if it is indeed this one you refer to..1958 address to the Oxford Union. Maybe you had to be there!

Flanders and Swann have quite a repertoire and some of the choruses very familiar. Swann also lets loose with his piano playing on some such as "Sea Fever". I've enjoyed quite a few of them today!

Nicely oddball Chris, I have never come across Gerard Hoffnung before...but I have now!

First heard that Hoffnung sketch when I was a teenager. A hilarious mix of anticipation and timing!

More Hoffnung on a double CD...
"The Hoffnung Festival of Music" Decca 444 921-2
with a string of famous names, from Rod Stewart to Eleanor Bron to Bamber Gascoigne.

Not forgetting Tom Lehrer's phone call to Mad Walt (Sir Walter Raleigh), about To-bac-co and Potatoes...
And Hancock's "The Blood Donor"...
And Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, on the Mona Lisa ("...It's the bottoms that follow you round the room, Dud...")

And any number of episodes of "I'm sorry, I haven't A Clue" ("...and, as always, our splendid Scorer, Samantha, sitting, as always, as she does, on my right hand...").
