Thanks for that Marc. I will re-read and try the procedure , probably on Sunday if I feel brave. I can already do the praying bit although I'm well out of practice.

Re: Back to reality for some advice.
Ok. So far not successful.
Clicked on the link and was given the option to "Download" or "import to".
Chose download. On completion of download, checked that the files were the 8 on the tutorial.
I chose "Extract to". In the Browse field, I chose "E/" which was the designated drive for the USB stick.
When complete, I closed all programmes and "Safely removed the memory stick"
I reinserted the USB stick to check the files were on there.
Fired up the car, unpaired my phone, selected radio and plugged in the USB stick.
Screen message said " Checking data on Media"
After a few minutes the screen behind the message reverted to the Navigation map.
After about 5 minutes the message changed to "Media incomplete or damaged"
Tried the procedure twice with the same result.
Checked that the Sat Nav was still working. Phew!

Re: Back to reality for some advice.
Can you confirm you formatted the USB stick correctly as Fat32? It will not work with NTFS or the defaults Windows 10 file system Rick. This is a crucial step in the procedure.

Re: Back to reality for some advice.
I wonder if there might be an issue with the USB stick? It could be worth re-formatting it, but let it go for a full format (which will take time, but should also make sure there are either no problems, or any would be highlighted).

Re: Back to reality for some advice.
I've done a quick format a couple of times then started the procedure again with the same result. The bit I'm not sure about is after the download is complete, at the top of the screen is the option to "Extract". I extract all the files to /E (the usb designated drive). Is this the same as using a different programme.

Re: Back to reality for some advice.
I'M using my phone to reply
I'm in the middle of formatting the USB stick. About a quarter done. I'll download the files again after the format and extract to E using the option given . I will get a screen grab when that is done but it will be a while, as this is easy for you guys but a nightmare for me.

Re: Back to reality for some advice.
Ok, but make sure it is the 2.80 version first - NOT the 2.86 firmware file.
