Todays picture of the day.....
The Curiosity Rover
If you look closely at the wheels, you will see a series of holes which make an imprint of the letters "JPL" in morse code. The wheels are getting pretty worn even though they have only covered 17km!

Re: Picture(s) of the day..Mars!!
How astounding is Curiosity (the Mars Rover).
Depends how astounded you are that
It can be remote controlled from the Earth which can be anything from 33 million miles to 249 million miles away.
It got there in the first place
It landed safely
It continues to operate 5 years after landing.
It puts morse code prints on the surface of Mars!
Me, I am totally astounded
Regards Neil

And yet Citroen still struggle to fit DMFs that last the distance, or steering racks that don't rust as soon as they're exposed to air, or window winder mechanisms that are fit for purpose. Perhaps building cars is still a bit of a new science to them and they haven't quite mastered it yet
Sadly no longer a C5 owner

...and ironically the chevrons on the wheels of Curiosity are starting to drop off!

Two lovely old adverts borrowed from Facebook
The Raleigh mopeds I remember very well from my childhood and early teenage years and ridden a few too...
This old Hillman newspaper advert is just so lovely... So is the car!
I so wish adverts of today were like those...

Jim, you may remember this little selection from "Cycling " July 24th 1897 formerly deposited at the Pickled Egg
as I remarked at the time that "St Jacob's Oil" isn't too shy about its claims!
and remembering it was 1897, well before gel inserts in lycra shorts you probably did need those endurance steel balls to ride the machines of the day.
and if you ever need to "accomodate a skirted lady on the front seat" those New Westminster Tandems are just the thing!

I want some of that St. Jacob's Oil - badly! I reckon it would fix me good and proper Wonder what it contained?
All we cyclists all have balls of steel
