Another weekend get together of us inflicting madness, mischief and mayhem (of the positive variety) on the streets of London, and another notable French spot - bright metallic purple 2CV spotted somewhere in the Whitechapel area - not 100% sure, but I think it was heading from Mincing Lane onto St Dunstan's Hill given we were heading along Great Tower Street at the time.
When we got back to MK there was also an L plate dark grey Pug 205 in the train station car park, albeit looking somewhat sorry for itself.

Spotted a gorgeous BX just entering Newport Pagnell whilst out on my bike this afternoon It was on an H plate and a sort of dark brown/grey colour... It looked perfect...

Re: Spotted Xantias! (and other French stuff)
The French were quite pleasingly well represented over at the Festival of The Unexeptional classic car show at Whittlebury today.
Apologies the photos aren't the best quality, it was very sunny so I was doing my best in a high contrast situation with a phone camera...
Firstly, Citroen GSA.
Which still features what is probably my favourite bonkers Citroen dashboard.
Next up was a lovely GS, the colour of which my camera really hasn't done justice to, it honestly looked like it was glowing in person.
Just to show I'm not biased towards Citroen, here's a Renault 11TXE Electronic. Sadly I didn't spot the owner or I would have tried to get a photo of the digital dash working. As a former Renault 11 owner I was pleased to see this there.
Next up an early (and apparently in some way race setup given the timing equipment on board) Renault 5.
Never realised that the early 5 had quite such a funky looking instrument panel.
Bit more modern, but definitely worthy of classic status I reckon, a Peugeot 406 Coupe appeared later on in the day.
A Pug 509 (I think) panel van which still looks to be earning its keep. Camera really didn't enjoy this one, taking a photo of a white vehicle in such bright sunlight).
Next up what must be a real rarity these days (even though this is actually the second one I now know of), which I *think* can be classified as French...I never quite know where Talbot stand in terms of where they're from...The ones I've worked on always seemed to contain large amounts of PSA bits anyway.
Ideal for the weather today, a Talbot Samba.
Finally a rarity for me - a car from this sort of era that I'd never heard of before - that doesn't happen to be me often!
A Talbot Salora.
There were also a couple of 2CVs, an Ami 8 (as seen in Practical Classics recently I believe) and at least one Dyanne - but I don't seem to have photos of those sadly...If I find them later I'll add those.

Nice crop there, that Renault 5 if it's not Maron glacé it's very close , but with a more subtle interior than Citrojim's former five!
I like a convertible and wonder if the Talbot samba is straight from the factory or a specialist job
Regards Neil
Ps looks like it was a factory official cabriolet, designed by Pininfarina.

Re: Spotted Xantias! (and other French stuff)
Courtesy of my other half who did snap a couple of the Frenchies I'd missed.
Renault 6 - which I completely missed being there altogether somehow despite having obviously walked past it more than once given where it was!
Citroen 2CV.
Finally for now, an Ami 8.
Edit: Just spotted in the background of one of our other photos there was a white Citroen Visa there as well that we both failed to spot! D'oh!

Well, when I was in Winchester this morning I saw a French Xantia (looks a bit tatty, but don't we all over a certain age!);

Looks very much like Maron glacé to me Neil
The interior of mine was similar but without all the additional bits!

Re: Spotted Xantias! (and other French stuff)
Not my spot unfortunately, but my husband snapped this just down the street when out walking the dog the other day.
Not every day you see one of these in the wild.
Used to occasionally see a yellow one up in Aberdeen but this is the first one that I've seen down here.

Re: Spotted Xantias! (and other French stuff)
Had to look that one up, but having consulted autotrader vehicle check, then zooming in on the image, I find its an Alpine A610 Turbo. In 2016 Q1 only 17 licenced, and 24 on SORN, so a very rare sight indeed.Zelandeth wrote: Not every day you see one of these in the wild.
