Hi,
Does anyone tried to replace factory fitted navigation with another Das Navigation system. I'm thinking about Pioneer's NEX line and I wonder also if the steering wheel controls will still be functioning

What you need to be careful of is that the Head units in the X7 provide more than just navigation - they also are used to setup various parameters on the vehicle - the system is fully CAN and you need to fully understand the impact of this if attempting to replace your unit with a non PSA system. There are many posts on here regarding this - Vaborovic has done several upgrades on his car and will be able to advise you better - There generally isn't too many issues upgrading from a lower spec system to a higher spec model within the PSA systems - but problems will often arrise when fitting an aftermarket kit.

I had RD4 and small display. I've changed HU to aftermarket one (1din Kenwood) and didn't loose anything with proper adapter lead. If you get rid of that original display, then you will loose clock, temperature display and possibly parking sensor display (if fitted).
Car parameters are changed via display between speedo and rpm, and changing HU doesn´t have any effect on that.

We need to be careful here on the models - and not generalise too much - different audio systems have different functionality so - parking assistance, bluetooth, telephony, voice commands all need to be considered first. The best thing to do is state clearly what audio system you currently have - and then we can see what exactly the system does and what possible implications there are.

I miss the appradio in my old galaxy, it was far from the best but certainly it was more intuitive. I just loved how my phone was integrated with that System. Not to say that in my opinion what my 2009 C5 has is ancient.GiveMeABreak wrote:We need to be careful here on the models - and not generalise too much - different audio systems have different functionality so - parking assistance, bluetooth, telephony, voice commands all need to be considered first. My car lacks many features like parking sensor, but I do intent to fit them so yes, I agree with you about the basics that every car should have.
