xsara picasso key programming

hi, picking up my y reg xsara picasso tomorrow, the buttons on the key dont work, is there a diy reprogramming procedure i can try to get it working?

Is it possible the buttons have become de-soldered?

I wonder if the battery has died? If it has, it may be a simple process to get the central locking working again (once you have a new battery in it), and that is by turning the key to the main position (not starting the car), and then pressing a button on the key (any will do).

ok, found out why it isnt working, turns out ther is nothing inside the key lol

It does depend on what electronics should have been in there in the first place.
