I wonder if it is possible to ask new registration members to put their car/region in place during the process of joining the forum ..??
Maybe save a few requests to add it ?

We already (since the upgrade last month) ask for a list of their (French) cars.
Making the Location field mandatory might be a good idea.

I usually take the liberty of filling that in for overseas members to save them getting advice only applicable to UK members but it would certainly help to have it mandatory.

Extra points for location creativity Steve but whats the best version Max Bygraves or the Four Lads?
And following on should a new member live in a windmill in old Amsterdam they could maybe adopt this old favorite

I'm in favour of the location field being mandatory. It's a real pain constantly asking where people are when part/cars are advertised or when considering offering to go and help someone with a problem etc.
However... the location field , pm buttons etc. no longer show for me (i.e. by each post, under the username) since the forum upgrade, anyway?

What OS/browser are you using? The location field is showing here on windows 8.1 with Firefox, Chrome and Opera browsers and on Android with Firefox.wurlycorner wrote: However... the location field , pm buttons etc. no longer show for me (i.e. by each post, under the username) since the forum upgrade, anyway?
The PM button is now (in phpBB 3.1) only visible if you click the icon just to the right of the word "contact".

Majority of the time is using opera on android. I think it was the same when I used chrome on Windows 7 the other day though (I'll check later). Opera is set to desktop, btw (not mobile).xantia_v6 wrote:What OS/browser are you using? There's no "contact" showing in the posts, either?

Re: SITE: I wonder....new registration , car/region
OK, I see the issue now. It is part of the phpBB scaling for small screens, you can see the effect on a windows browser if you reduce the size of the window as far as you can (by dragging a corner of the window), then when it gets to the point where small screen mode kicks in, the contact button etc disappear. I think they should show up in a menu somewhere, but I can't see where. I will look into this in a few days when life settles down again (moving house tomorrow).
