Here's the Aston DB5 I spotted a couple of days ago...It was quite a ways off so a horrible photo.
Today though parked up in Conniburrow was this lovely little Lotus.
I always forget how incredibly tiny these cars are between the occasions I see them in person.
I-Spy Classic Cars/Bikes-What have you spotted?

Thats another dream car for me. Don't think I'll ever try one though, some dreams are easily ruined by reality.CitroJim wrote:

Re: Classic car summer season 2015-C'est finis
Well today I saw an Aston Martin Lagonda (you know, the one with the very low nose, the angular shape, the touch sensitive controls) in metallic blue. I also saw what looked like an American car, RHD, with a "Rambler Classic" badge. Not sure what make it was, reg COW 909C.

Re: Classic car summer season 2015-C'est finis
Clue's in the name: it's a Rambler! Somewhere/how between Nash (who made a Rambler) & American Motors (AMC) it became a make in it's own right.
"Detroit" did this all the time: models become free-standing marques & then beocme subsumed in the parent company - or disappear altogether. Bit like Citroen are going with "DS" at the moment, in a way.

I had it in my head that they were a "Readman Rambler" but it seems I was wrong (yet again)

The DVLA vehicle check, (requiring Reg No and Make) is a useful whatsthisthen and I-Spy tool.Hell Razor5543 wrote:.... I also saw what looked like an American car, RHD, with a "Rambler Classic" badge. Not sure what make it was, reg COW 909C.

Yep...mate of mine used to have (maybe still has even) a mid 70s Caddilac El Dorado. Engine was somewhere around 7 litres in size - producing something like 150bhp in a car that weighed nearly three tonnes. You never tended to go anywhere quickly, plus mini-roundabouts commonly required a 3 point turn to negotiate...then there was trying to park the thing...CitroJim wrote:Pull the udder one... 3500cc in a big old Yank Tank is TINY...NewcastleFalcon wrote: Looks like it had a surprisingly large lump under the bonnet

Ah...you see when I saw "Nash" mentioned in this quote.....CitroJim wrote: Pull the udder one... 3500cc in a big old Yank Tank is TINY...
I imagined something of this sort of size...van ordinaire wrote:Clue's in the name: it's a Rambler! Somewhere/how between Nash (who made a Rambler) & American Motors (AMC) it became a make in it's own right.

Course the "Rambler Classic" is a much bigger beast altogether
Some had quite a nice name for the transmission. Who wouldn't be tempted by a "Flash-O-Matic"?

I love the Nash... Don't know why but they appeal greatly, especially in yellow ad white

and they had a 4 speed (3 synchro) transmission with first ger gated off to give a 3 speed all synchro, with the diff ratio of 5 point something to allow reasonable performance off the line, but the poor B series engine (1200cc I think) screaming its head off if you tried to exceed 50 MPH.addo wrote:Until you realise the boot is accessed through the back seat. Speaking of the Lancia Integrale, I'd rather the Thema V8. It has made me want to put a 24V PRV into a 405.

This is one of my dreams too, they do drive like they look ( i have had the brief pleasure), your expectations will be met dont worry. They are commanding strong money now though although i could forgive it for being a bit delicate as you would anything that looks that good.elma wrote:Thats another dream car for me.
