Hey folks.
I'm looking for some help with a little alternator confusion....
A friend has bought a replacement alternator for his C5 2.0 HDi, correct year, correct model etc....... except, when the replacement came it had a 2 prong/ pin connection where the outgoing alternator only has 1 prong/ pin ....
Can anyone shed any light on this please? can we still use the 2 pin alternator but without 1 of the pins connected?
I am presuming that the 2 pin has 1 for the warning lamp and 1 for an associated electrical task that I dont know exsists =(
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.

Re: C5 alternator confumbles
At a stab (and it is a guess) the replacement with the single pin is not C5 specific, its a general one (obviously mountings / output etc are correct)
The dual pin is for plexed cars so the BSi can control the charging rate.
^^ This is a guess.

Hi Spider. Thanks for the reply. That is a similar punt to the one I had, but having heard a rumour about an ecu controlled alternator I panicked and thought i should ask on the forum incase someone had a similar experience.... I guess I should just tell sed work matey to go ahead and fit it, then pray! lol
thanks again!
