xantia hdi brakes

Post by bozzhogg »

Hi all
I have just gone to fit new brake discs and pads to my 99 T plate xantia HDi SX(2 litre 110bhp) to find that the discs and pads are completely different to those ordered. The discs on mine are 288mm and not 266 as stated in Haynes manual. Also the pads are a completely different size and the calliper set up is completely different to the haynes manual.
Has anyone else had this issue?

Yes, sadly yes. The 110 HDi shares the "Big Brakes" as also found on the MK2 Activa, MK2 2.1TD and the V6.

The confusion often comes in because the 90 HDi does indeed use the smaller brakes..

The big brakes are a little more expensive but on the plus-side, they're easier to work with. Pad changes are actually easier...

I've recently done the rear brakes on mine, 2x discs, 4x pads and 4x shoes and the handbrake is still not much good, I think it wants adjusting up already.

To make the things even more confusing there is the 3rd size for the front brakes, 283 mm which is same as in mine :?
