Checked out the Mpg on Xantia V6.....not bad
312mile trip up to Highlands and back towing a 5cwt loaded camping trailer.
Just on 30mpg ! Thats A roads mainly and some single track with only 12 miles of motorway. I'm quite pleased with that. The 34npg should be attainable without the trailer.

The PSA V6 can be quite frugal when driven "Sensibly"
I get a good MPG when softly cruiseing, however, when having fun it drops like a stone!!

45MPG from a 3.0 V6! Ive got the wrong car
Impressive ecomony, i can see why people say they are better than the TCTs.

Never managed to get more than 30mpg from mine, but then again, I've never tried to drive it frugally.
It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right

Mind, when you're hooning about it's difficult to significantly pull the
economy figures South of 30 too. I recall a fella on the run down from
the M5 to Ross/Monmouth (best road around!) who couldn't work out
why the anonymous Citroen Xantia itmustbeaTD was glued to the rear
bumper of his DB9 and try as he might it wouldn't get smaller in his
mirror... Yet after the effortless stable cruising for ages and
ages it didn't hammer me with massive thirst!!
Fingers crossed the nice man at my local Cit Indy has good news about
my flatlined V6 sometime soon...

Running an Activa on a daily basis shows just how good the V6 is. I get about the same as you on a run Lexi.
Around town too it is far and away more economical than the Activa.
Just shows what a treasure the V6 is
Andrew, looking forward to hearing good news about yours soon...

I found the v6 better on fuel than my manual v6 peugeot and the activa, i think its cos the box gives more higher gearing resulting in lower revs especially on longer journeys, i took both to london on many occasions and the xantia got many more miles!

45 I didn't know was possible.
Mine the optimum cruising engine speed is 1500rpm but I do not know how much it would do the roads are never that peaceful. I think I got it to 38mpg but haven't been able to replicate that again in 7 years
2200rpm it does 35mpg, over 3000rpm 25-30mpg somewhere. Standing in traffic is bad, tank usually lasts 2/3 the miles. I do my best to avoid that so I get around 30mpg day to day. Think it needs LPG though.

Love my black v6 xant - only one with cream coloured leather too!

when i had my V6, I noticed it was not too bad on the old juice, and when i sold it for an xm tct, i was shocked to see how much heavier the tct engine is, considering the V6 is 1.0litre bigger and has two more cylinders it's a well designed fuel system! I'd take a V6 over the TCT any day!
Oh and it will drink soooo much more in sports mode, but that sports mode is exhilarating.

You should try driving a Mk V Golf R32 with a DSG box, sports mode on that was brutal. It makes sport mode on a Xantia V6 look like something your gran would use!deian wrote:of all the buttons i've ever pressed in my life, that has been the best one my finger has fallen upon
Ask Paul (citroenxm) what mine was like lol. Think he was hanging onto his seat most of the time in mine!
