The migration to the new forum webserver went successfully this morning
All is now back to normal. Please let me know of any "funnies" you might see as some small bits of fine tuning may be needed over the coming days.
Let's hope it lasts longer than the last "new" server did

Thanks Richard First poster on the new forum!
It's looking OK but I'm a tad concerned not many have found it yet. More have actually found and posted on the BXC since the migration!!!
It was all over and done with by 04:45... Practice

Seems to working very well and is definitely faster than the old server.
The new icon hasn't worked its way through yet - I still have the default IE icon on my works machine.

Me too on IE at workPaul-R wrote:The new icon hasn't worked its way through yet - I still have the default IE icon on my works machine.
It quickly changed using Opera at home.
One of the quirks of IE I guess

Ahh, well, Sydney is a long way away and the packets have to turn themselves upside-down to display the forum properly on your Souther-Hemisphere monitors so a bit of delay is expected until they become fully trained in the art...addo wrote:I'm finding the pages really slow to load, and the pop-up blocker is working overtime.
The old server was well used to the job.
AussieFrogs has the same problem with our Northern-Hemisphere monitors occasionally

Jim, as said - excellent work. It truly is quicker, even on my machine which certainly is saying something!
Favicon still not updated but I'm sure it will at some point soon.
Thanks for all your hard work, there is no other forum quite like FCF so all you do to keep it going is greatly appreciated.

You may jest Adam but back in the days when PC monitors had these quaint glass screens and looked a bit like a telly, there were distinct variants for use in the northern and southern hemispheres. Those for the southern hemisphere had their scan coils wound in the opposite sense.addo wrote: You know our HDDs and microwave platters spin the opposite way?
I kid you not....
