Was at GSF today to collect a nice new pair of Lemforder drop links and while there spotted a gallon of hydroflush which I bought. As far as I am aware the old gal has never been flushed, although she's had a couple of LHM changes, and as she's approaching 100k I thought it might be a good idea to give it a go.
Now the question.... I've never done a flush before so is there anything that it's likely to throw up, like finding leaks that weren't there before etc or any other gems of wisdom from an experienced flusher?

A good Hydraflush is always a good thing to do Stempy
No issues, just drain as much of the old LHM as you can so put the suspension on low and syphon the old LHM out of the reservoir. I use a long plastic hose and very carefully suck on it to get the flow going. I can tell you LHM tastes very nasty
Clean your LHM filters, you may be amazed how mucky they are.
Fill up with Hydrafuush, bleed the brakes, do lots of Citarobics and forget all about it for a 1000 miles
Hydraflush should not "find" any weak spots or leaks. It's just LHM with a bit of detergent and an additive to hold the debris it finds in suspension.
After 1000 miles drain it, clean the LHM filters again, refill with nice, fresh LHM, bleed the brakes and do Citarobics. Job done
I find a second bleed of the brakes after say, 500 miles is not a bad idea, just to ensure totally that any air is out of the brake lines.

Well, depending on weather and other duties assigned to me I don't know for sure when I will get time to do the job, I will certainly report back when I do, but I can tell you that I have bled the brakes several times without any nipple problems.
The battery has just given up as well, so until I get round to getting a new one I can't even start without jump leads.

One of the many positive advantages of LHM , you'll very rarely find a seized nipple as LHM, unlike normal, nasty brake fluid, is not hygroscopic and therefore does not encourage corrosion to develop.Stempy wrote:I can tell you that I have bled the brakes several times without any nipple problems.
Before you crack open the nipples, gibe them a tiny drink of Plus-Gas and apply a very small wire brush to them, just to cleam them up a bit.

Stempy, if you havent already done the job, It is a good idea to clean the inside of the lhm resavoir, I use kitchen roll to clean mine when i do a hydroflush. Be Careful, the inside edges are very sharp, amazing the crud you may wipe up.
