The tensioner on my auxiliary belt has siezed solid. It sounded very painful when it went and I thought it was the injection pump. The question: Is this integral to the steering pump bracket or is it on a shaft with some form of fastening.Typically Haynes do not show any of it.
Anders- Spot on with the dodgy wiring on ignition switch. Thanks

According to drawing no 0290 02 532051A - ALTERNATOR AND FIXINGS DIESEL XU ET REFRIGERATION ET FIXATION ALTERNATEUR 4 POINTS DEPUIS OPR 06809
(TD after RP no 6909 - w/ aircondition and 4point Alternator fixing)
These engine types have 2 different rollers :
5751.29 - ALTERNATOR TENSION ROLLER - 857,20 (excentric adjusted)
5751.30 - ALTERNATOR TENSION ROLLER - 732,05 (spring loaded)
All other Xantia Mk1 diesels uses a single roller :
5751.38 - ALTERNATOR TENSION ROLLER - 619,70
Prices in Dkr (ex vat). Divide by 11 and you are very close to price in UK£'s. Bit expensive me thinks, but the part should be available from the usual reknown aftermarket dealers.
