Gosh! Those leak alarms definitely did a great job Mick. I'm going to get some to incorporate in my rebuilt ablutions facilities...

Don't worry, many never fully managed to tune in to the nonsense I can come up with!
Soot, here, in the nook
- Spoiler: show
P.s. echoing what Jim said, those leak detectors look a great idea and I'll look into them too.

It's like the start of a haiku.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Oh the pressure is on! I'll try my best, please chip in others!
Soot, here, in the nook,
From posers, seeking "a look"!
Not tealights!?! My head, it shook!
Perhaps better, a bath time book,
Or soap, shampoo and a duck!

Re: DIY with function over finesse!!
Well with the aid of the spray and the tools removing the old seal from the tiles was pretty simple and now its ready for the new bath:
While I was doing that job I noticed that the hot isolation valve had a pool of water in its end. I know it was dry last night so the isolator must have the tiniest leak. Obviously I don't want to try and adjust it cos I'd be bound to get a fountain so I settled for a safe drainage path until my new olives arrive tomorrow and I can refit the S extension to give it more room but I'll keep the tissue in the end until I get to fit the new bath.
The S pipes awaiting new olives to refit to the isolators:
At least the new tap and shower head have arrived with the new waste, so just the bath, the bath feet, the push on flexible connectors and the 22mm olives to come!!

Your bathroom is slightly resembling mine now Mick! Although yours still looks largely habitable - mine's just a building site with no floors currently!
I guess you're going for a new bath rather than replacing it with a nice big walk-in shower as I'm doing... Or do you have room for both?

How's your garage holding up against this thunderstorm Mick? I seem to remember it being downhill.

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

I'd say pretty well, the pictures tell the story:
